SP4x4 Puma Doors

I picked up set of the puma doors from SP4x4 today that we ordered a couple months ago. Well worth the wait IMO. The only reason it took so long was a delay getting one of them from Land Rover. They had a couple shipping options and we chose to pick them up at the airport which was considerably cheaper. And we had to make an appointment with customs to inspect them but it was fairly painless. It ended up less than 2K for 4 doors, plus the two front internal panels, including shipping.

Now well see how long my wife lets me store them in the sunroom :)

Nice bit of kit. Did you get the fancy boxes too?

You are going to have a lot of long hours assembling all 4, but it's well worth the investment in time.

They canceled my order a few months ago because they didn't think they'd be able to get them again. Maybe I should try again.

I am looking at doors and some body panels from the same company. Are you guys happy with the fit, and quality?

If you buy the OEM doors as pictured above they dont get any better.

I have bought a bunch of doors and outer wings from him and been happy.
He can ship airport to airport cheaply if you are willing to go pick them up and clear them through customs yourself you can save big on shipping

Just a quick update on these doors. I have ordered all the parts to go with them and it was just over 4K. Most of it was from LRdirect and the glass and some other misc. parts from RN. Oh yeah that does not include the door cards:(
But they are nice :)

If this is the first time you will be completely assembling doors I'd be curious to know how long it takes to get them completed. I've contemplated assembling all my doors moving forward since complete NTO's are outrageous money these days. I know some guys do this frequently to keep costs down but would like to know time to complete assemble from someone who has never done the complete assembly. Keep us posted as it pans out.

I've also bought a bunch of stuff from them through the years and generally really like what I've gotten. Only problems I've had is with half doors being shipped. I've had countless show up dinged and dented and decided one of the last times I had them shipped, I just paid him to build a small crate for them and the shipping with crate build was only an additional $65 so it made sense. They arrived unblemished and was worth the money for crate.

Though, If I decide to start buying full doors and building them I'd go the pick up at the airport route to hopefully alleviate some of the damage from multiple person, company, handling.

Has anyone who buys complete doors from them frequently had any damage issues with shipping and pick up from airport? There is no insurance or returns on panels and doors so this is the only downfall I've found thus far. In general, I really like sp4x4.

If you haven't done it before, and you are working from a pile of parts (and LR diagrams) you could spend 8 hours on a door to figure it out and assemble it. The diagrams (even in Microcat or JLR Ecat) are crude at best and don't show a lot of the fit detail. It's best to just be patient, and do bits at a time.

I may still have a fair amount of photos from when I put mine together, showing various fit and finish. May post them on my profile page if I can find them.
