Snow/rain heater cowl & heater issue

I got sick of fogging up the inside of the 110 after and during heavy rain here. I decided to get one of these snow/rain intake cowls to solve my problem.

For the record I don't like how it looks but hate fogging up the interior of the windscreen as soon as I turn on the air.

After installing this I solved my problem but developed another. Now there is zero air flow with the heat running until I go full fan. Heat works perfectly without the cowl. I did not ever think about the heater functioning off ram air flow but now it's obvious it does. Anybody have any suggestions for a solution? I prefer having the heat full blast only versus the fogging issue so I can live with it.

I think you severely reduced the volume of allowable air with the new cover. It has a way smaller opening than the factory vent cover.

Been running one of these for quite a while now. No issues at all. I have also installed a digital fan cotrol slide and it increases airflow about 25%. I do not miss the "ram effect" with better airflow through the fan... I suppose its just a trade off.

Why not run the forward facing covers - added air volume at even moderate speeds and does not take in a lot of water like traditional vent

That was going to be my suggestion, but they look pretty silly. I guess they arenät as bad as the snow cover.

I feel you on the steamy windows after rain. I had this issue in NJ last month right after I merged onto the highway. It was morning rush hour and not a good situation.

Word, do you guys sell them? What are they like driving in rain?

Yes - and the larger ones seem to work better (high profile) Super cheap under $25 or so.

Seeing how we live in the Pacific Northwet they do help with rain when parked and when moving the airflow keeps it pretty well charged.

Would you please post a link? I did a quick search and didn't see the product you mentioned.

Just bear in mind these were originally designed & fitted as part of the artic pack on military Rovers that also had additional heating in the cab for the occupants.

True. As I said, it solved the issue of fogging. Don't get me wrong, when I turn on the fan full the heat works very well. I have to turn it off eventually depending on clothing I'm wearing.
