Smog emissions passed, but the EVAP (fuel tank/system) leak down test failed twice. We crimped off the canister, no change. Hopefully there's a hint or two out there what's cracked in the fuel system...?
Been looking at the system and all seems very intact. No dry hoses or bad looking connections (the actual emission pipes are some sort of plastic/abs). It seems like there should be some kind of control valve to let it gas out somewhere but don't see that examining the system. Also there is an open pipe connection on top of the canister but that appears to be stock/correct as in the parts drawings...
I've never really understood emissions stuff but don't see how this system could hold pressure, wouldn't air/gas/fumes just move out the hose going to the intake plenum? Or out the open port on top the canister...
Have examined the whole system and all looks very intact. I did note that one of the lines coming from the SEPARATOR by the tank vents to atmosphere. Wonder if this one was meant to be blocked/crimped during the test in addition to the canister.
