Roll cage finish

Trying to determine the best way to get rid of this surface rust. Remove and have blasted / painted or is there a way to do it in place? The door hardware was easy to replace so I am hopeful the torx bolts will come off without breaking.

As long as that powder coat is on there, you will never stop that rust creep. It will just keep holding moisture and working its way up. I have always blasted and painted them.

It's a ton more work, but I prefer to galvanize and then paint them. Takes a lot of prep however to get the galvanizing smooth so it doesn't show and get the paint to stick. Have to acid etch, epoxy prime then topcoat. PPG makes a 2 part industrial paint that is nearly bulletproof.

Thanks I thought that might be the case. I am confident I could remove and install the bar but the painting I think I would have to outsource. Well it would give me an excuse to do this and the stock brush bar at the same time.
