Revotech Electric Fan Kits - 300tdi

I have bad luck with fan clutches... Although, I realized while typing that sentence I could substitute “fan clutch” with a number of other Land Rover parts.

Anyways - interested in experiences with the Revotech kits. How is the quality of the fans and the components? How robust is the mounting system? Part of my hesitation with the kit is having run across folks with fatigued, home built mounts that end up contacting the radiator during long washboard stretches.

I love the manual control option. This is the kind of thing I’ll fuss over. I am sitting here picturing myself switching them on on highway off ramps, switching to manual for long hill climbs, then there is the turbo cool cycle before shut down; I can run them then...

Thanks in advance
Henry

Solid and simple . I don't like the wiring it comes with but that's easy to fix . Gets the job done for sure . I replaced my custom made hodgepodge with it

Thanks for the replies...

I have been eyeing the kit for awhile. I regret not doing it last summer. I’ll take a look at the instal instructions and see what can be done with the wiring loom....

Friend who did the Jegs twin fan set up is still really happy with it years later. He has each fan set up to come on at a different temp. I’ve been tempted to go down that path as well.

I had a revotec for a while and had some. Fan issues, switched to a flex a lite fan and it works fine.

I installed the revotec dual fan setup last year...a bit pricier than some alternatives, but great quality, fit and no problems after around 1100 miles (installed as part of my Chevy 250 conversion). I particularly like the mounting brackets.

I purposefully bought a $60 job off Amazon, thinking that I would test if I need a standard fan, or could go electric. I've now run it for almost two years. I love it. I will go to the higher end stuff if this one craps out. But the fact is, I've only needed it when it has been obvious that I need it. Slow, hot climb.

My opinion only............... Some things on a Rover and not worth changing and the mechanical cooling fan on a 200/300Tdi is one of them. If the fan clutch is failing try a green box part instead of a blue box part. If you’re storing a spare make sure the box isn’t laying flat on the shelf, it should be stored on its side.

Thanks again... Given the cost, I still waiver on simply ordering another fan clutch.

Part of my interest in the Revotech kit was to help warm up the little diesel in our Canadian winters. Even with a radiator muff, I find it struggles to get up to operating temperatures on inner-city trips.

Still mulling...

Maybe in a Canadian winter, you don't need the fan......

The fan should make no difference. You should never need a radiator muff or find a benefit from it. They are a bandaid for a leaking thermostat. Get a Webasto if you want heat on short trips. The problem with cabin heat is the stock heater matrix is inefficient and has a fairly high difference between coolant and air temperature.

The only real justification for an electric fan is deep wading. Just make sure the install is up to the same quality that a manufacturer would use. It is common for people to do a half assed install and then they get failures from that. But you can have a fan install that is more reliable than a vissous fan.

As to needing a fan, I have a light telling mine is running so know when it comes on. You need it off road very regularly. On road, it is usually only on very long hills and occasionally in weird wind conditions.
