Very cool video.
I've been seeing it pop up on FB in places.
I still dont love the latest evolution though...

I put 107k on a P38 with no issues beyond regular maintenance. I really like them also, but like you, they scare me. So, at 107,000 I decided it was time to get it out of my life. I think I am one of the fortunate ones with those things.

I actually view the 2002 P38 and the 2004 Disco II as the last thing wearing the badge that even resembles a Land Rover. I will never own anything newer that says Land Rover on it. But, that's just me.

That BECM is terrifying. Every mod you make finds you waiting for it to freak out and just deny you the use of your truck.

Heck! Just changing the battery can wreak havoc with the BECM. I never knew there were procedures for that. LOL
That being said. I'm not that afraid of driving it cross country. After all, I bought it in NYC and drove it down to Texas with 145K already on the clock.

I bought mine near Chicago and drove it home to Texas, then all over after. It really was a good truck. Ate batteries about every year. Never figured out why. The door locks would freak every so often and rapidly cycle a few times. Never figured that one out either. But, it was rock solid other than that.

Oh, and those damn heater matrix O-rings. Those are a nightmare. One of the few things I have ever paid a mechanic to to do. I explained the method to swap them without ripping the dash out and let him have at it. Money well spent.
