Red Booster Clutch Kit

Saw this in an email from Paddocks, just wondering if anyone has ever tried the kit? I have trouble with soft clutches as I appreciate some feedback and resistance from the pedal, so likely this may not be for me. Looks like they aren't cheap at around $450 plus ship, just found interesting.

I did look into this set up years ago as I have a dicky left leg. But I fitted the over-centre spring peddle as a stop gap. I have found the over-centre peddle was all I needed. I know some on here will disbelive that.
Also the red booster not gooda for you lefties.

Personally, I hate the overcenter spring. It gives a non linear clutch pedal.

It is nice to see this being sold through Britpart as it makes it a lot easier to purchase.

LOL! Are you drag racing your 90 and looking for the perfect hole shot?
IMO the Red Booster is the biggest overkill product available. It's like running a gas generator to charge the battery instead of fixing the alternator.

IMO...and a few others I know, the clutch is much nicer to use with the linear spring.... I swapped trucks a few weeks ago for a week with a friend that has the overcenter spring as the stock clutch in his truck. He knows nothing about these things, but his first comment was how much nicer the clutch is in my truck to his.

In addition, some people find the clutch overly heavy and a booster is a nice solution. Some people may not have your leg strength. If this is not you, then it is not something you would purchase. There are much cheaper options to adding a clutch booster, but this one is the most plug and play out there.

A Td5 clutch pedal box is a a drop in solution to the firm pedal problem.
I just purchases some things from overseas and asked the seller to toss one of those in the box. So I have one on the way to install and try out. I dont really have $400-500 for a clutch booster, but ill see how the TD5 pedal and spring hold me over.

Red, can you explain what you mean by non linear? Is the pivot different in the TD5 due to the spring setup?

The newer pedal boxes have an overcenter spring. When the pedal is up, the spring pushes it up, when the pedal is depressed, it pushes the pedal down. So it is heavy at the top and lighter at the bottom with a transition through the travel. This makes it easier to hold the clutch fully released. I personally see little reason to ever keep the clutch fully released, so I get little benefit. The variable pedal pressure makes it less nice to use, IMO....

A normal clutch is fairly constant force, getting a bit heavier as it is depressed.

Some times my knee hurts, and I think Hey! I r3ally should add one more component to break...

I’m poisoned on brakes and boosters lately. I’ve been trying to get my LS/D90’s working properly and got really frustrated. The thought of adding more complexities at this particular moment in time is going backwards to how I feel on wanting to simplify some things. Surprised you didn’t just tell me to sell my trucks and walk— that would be really simplifying it!

I was serious about my knee—and getting a softer clutch has real advantages to that. Love to hear how it goes—

I swapped in a TDCI clutch pedal and master and I have to say the difference in operation was pretty remarkable. To those wondering the TDCI pedal and master will fit all years but the port side bolt hole, on the bottom, wont line up because of an angle not present on earlier bulkheads. That said, given the angle of depression, it would be the least stressed bolt on the assembly and I have had no issues (aside from removing the clutch fluid warning sensor on the later setup and swapping it from my original 2.5NA clutch pedal) for the past year or so.

I looked into the red booster before I updated my clutch pedal assembly and the improvement made the booster seem unnecessary. However if someone gave me one I would install it…

Looking at this as a possible solution to my Cummins setup. Used the original master and its not giving enough mechanical advantage for the setup. Works fine but presently a bit tough for female drivers

is there a benefit to the pedal from a tdci over a TD5 setup? I have a TD5 pedal incoming and was hoping to check out the different spring setup.

This type of thing? https://lofclutches.com/l-o-f-powerspring-pedal-assist-kit-45-lighter-defender/?v=7516fd43adaa
If so, thats a helluva lot simpler (and less to go wrong) than the Red Boost set up.
