Rebuild ECU

Who can rebuild, or rather re-solder an ECU? Not even sure why, but I ended up with one of my customer's 97 D90's ECU to have repaired.

In retrospect, I wish I were better at saying no. But now we're here, and I need to find a shop to repair it. The customer mentioned the vehicle would only start after he tapped the side of it, so I assume it has a bad solder or loose connection somewhere.

I'm not sure if this will help you or not. My other toy-car is a Jaguar, and on the Jag forums, some people have noted Autotek parts in California as competent with ECU repair. I haven't sent anything there, and if I do have a Jag ECU done it will probably be done by Roger Bywater, but it might be a good place to start.

Years ago I had a Panasonic TV that the sound died. I pulled the board and gave it the once over looking thru a magnifying glass. I found a cold solder and redid it. The TV lasted for several more years. It’s worth a try..........

Does this allow the ecu to function without an alarm, or does it still require an alarm present but bypasses the pairing

if no alarm, does the wiring harness require modification?

Turning off the alarm function means the ecu doesn't look for the 10AS alarm module before starting the truck. Otherwise the ecu functions normally. It's how we retrofit gems engine systems from discoverys into early defenders.
