R380 Slick shift install - fluid in housing?

Hey all

Installed the slick shifter last weekend on my ‘03 90 with 115K kms. When I took the turret off, the housing was full of a viscous sludge. Hadn’t seen that housing full of fluid in any of the install videos, or any other R380 maintenance videos I could find.

The green gasket around the base of the turret was still intact and continuous. Wasn’t just water from some old deep wading - was some kind of lubricant. Curious if this is normal, or if others have seen similar? Left it in there for the time being, but wonder if it’s some leak or I should drain it. Been having some intermittent clutch issues recently, but nothing major.

Thanks in advance!
