Referring to the positive lug on the alternator being wide open to a short due to a inadvertent bump with a tool or something metal on your person or clothing. Put a boot on that for safety. Jussain.

Well drive able at least - it’s still a Rover at heart. Taillights and turn signals stopped working, power steering line is leaking, need to button up the dash, clunk in the front end when turning hard left and still dealing with low speed lurching from 0 to 1/4 throttle.

Minor stuff really. The ride is 10x better with new shocks and bushings all around. Digging the new power and the sounds not half bad. We have it straight piped for now Plan to drive it for a while and then decide if we need a muffler

The first time we ran It we had a huge puddle of tranny fluid under the truck Thought it was the main front seal on the tranny. Turned out to be the vent tube from the tranny we had tucked up in the firewall. i guess the tranny is easy to overfill and the excess will bubble out the vent. We installed the custom Gatorade bottle to temporarily catch any additional overflow

Have you unplugged your EGR valve and tried driving it? Thats worked for a couple people to check problems. Also make sure your fuel lines are air tight. It may not leak but it can still suck air around fittings if done improperly. Lastly double check intake system for air leaks both Pre-turbo and after. Truck is looking great. If you want tips on how I wired my Cummins stuff to be easy assembly/disassembly and reliable let me know.

Back in to button up a few items.

Installed a custom SS cooling pipe in place of the mess of fittings we had before.

Still looking for a digital engine monitor. Bought an Edge Insight but didn’t realize these engines run on the old J1939 platform so no go on taking nice to each other. Any ideas are welcome.

Still battling the low speed stutter sent Cummins a few running videos and tach pics at various speeds to see if they can help analyze.

Ordered this cool t-case shifter knob from RedRover

Picked up a few gifts for the guys with some customs touches as little thx for all their help.

It’s been a busy month with work and more importantly fishing season since I last posted. Greta is running amazing and I will try to do a write up soon on my observations.

In the meantime I added a few more finishing touches over the weekend.

Finally got some sensors and gauges hooked up.

Little engine that could - pulling a long up hill grade - boosting pretty good - EGTs staying low.

Only averaged 21mpg this tank after all my racing the last few weeks.

Still running strong and knock on wood no major problems to report. Radio not working but really can‘t hear it anyways with the crappy speakers. Plan to do a few upgrades interior upgrades this winter maybe some more sound down, Exmoor floor mats, new cubby maybe and speakers.

Thinking about fabricating a soft top that looks like a pickup cab this winter. If anyone has done one or knows where to get one let me know.

Finally got the engine bay completed and cleaned up still may add some lift pistons for the hood.

And most importantly looks like I found another project Defender for a winter 2021 build.. details to follow.

Greta gets a new pair of shoes. Just picked up my 130 the other day that had ANR1534 on the corners. Decided to switch the tires between the 130 and 90.

Think the solid rims give it more of the Heritage look on the 90 and the bigger tires look more in proportion on the 130. Now we are trying to decide if we should have the 90s rims powder coated green or limestone?

Personally, I loved the black wheels, but I think the limestone wheels would look real nice on the 90. Congrats on the 130...

I don't think you could go wrong with any of those colors. I do vote for the ANR1534's any day over the modular steels.

Great looking 90 and 130's 👍

I am curious about what gearing you both are using on your R2.8 conversions? Diff Gears, Transfercase, tire sizes.
I have my R2.8 and R380 on order - now its just waiting and reading all these posts again and again. I will be upgrading my LT230...hopefully sooner rather than later - but curious about gearing - what you both have done - experiences, etc.
I currently have 31.6" tires - would like to go 33" in the future, but these tires are new.
Diffs are 3.54 rover ('88 D90) with the stock 1.41 LT230 (for now)
I am looking to order an Ashcroft LT230 - leaning towards the 1.1 over the 1.2 for better highway travel (to my hunting & hiking adventures)
I am concerned that the 1.1 may be geared a little high? Would that be a concern with the R2.8?
I also am figuring that if I do find it a bit high - I could change my axles for 3.75 with ashcroft ATBs - which would then help the 4Low gearing and support the larger tires.
My 4x4 is mostly just the trails to get to my hunting/hiking areas - not crawling (why I am considering ATB vs full lockers)
Any thoughts or concerns would be greatly appreciated....as I step into this giant wallet shrinking world of LR ownership.

Running 285s with stock rears and 1.2 Tcase. Rpm at highway cruise is 2400 or so. Can easily pull any hill in 5th and can easily go 80mph or more. Once in a while I look for another gear but I think I’m still not used to a diesel revving out as much as this motor can.

We considered going with the 1.1 for the 130 build but decided to just get the higher 5th gear for the 380. Our thinking was the same, thought the 1.1 might be to much and since the other gears felt fine let’s increase 5th and see what happens.

Keep us posted on your build.
