I am curious about what gearing you both are using on your R2.8 conversions? Diff Gears, Transfercase, tire sizes.
I have my R2.8 and R380 on order - now its just waiting and reading all these posts again and again. I will be upgrading my LT230...hopefully sooner rather than later - but curious about gearing - what you both have done - experiences, etc.
I currently have 31.6" tires - would like to go 33" in the future, but these tires are new.
Diffs are 3.54 rover ('88 D90) with the stock 1.41 LT230 (for now)
I am looking to order an Ashcroft LT230 - leaning towards the 1.1 over the 1.2 for better highway travel (to my hunting & hiking adventures)
I am concerned that the 1.1 may be geared a little high? Would that be a concern with the R2.8?
I also am figuring that if I do find it a bit high - I could change my axles for 3.75 with ashcroft ATBs - which would then help the 4Low gearing and support the larger tires.
My 4x4 is mostly just the trails to get to my hunting/hiking areas - not crawling (why I am considering ATB vs full lockers)
Any thoughts or concerns would be greatly appreciated....as I step into this giant wallet shrinking world of LR ownership.
