Project Greta has begun converting from a 200tdi to 2.8 in my ‘91 90. Pulled the trigger and ordered the engine and adapter from https://quickdrawbrand.com/product/c...e-adapter-kit/ along with new tranny and tcase from Ashcroft.

Hope to have all the components by late February and start the install shortly after.

Still exploring the cooling system but figure we have time.

Plan to pull the in 200 in the next few weeks and clean up the engine bay and cab area.

cool. will be following...

Greta, as in Thunberg, because your new diesel produces less carbon than the original 200? ⛽

Not exactly for the green aspect (Especially since I can never leave well enough alone) but it was the name bestowed on the 90 one night over dinner with my two boys. Seemed fitting.

I have the same plan for my 110. Planning on ordering everything in the next couple weeks. I'll be following along.

Are you going long bellhousing/R380 and keeping the t-case in the 200tdi position?

Very interested in your build as well.(y)

Yes. Based on emails and text from Doug (thanks Doug) this seems like the best fit.

Haven’t seen that kit before. Thanks for sharing. Seems like a good price. I’ll be following as well.

Worked on a few interior items while I wait for the engine and transmission. Kind of cart before the horse but it is way more comfortable driving for now

New steering wheel, seat covers (from a member on the other site), recovered the center console, shifter knob (https://epcomfg.com/shift-knobs/ ) and floor mats.

No turning back now.

Removal of small items tomorrow then power wash and clean up. Plan to paint the engine bay and frame while we have access.

Well things escalated quickly! Since we are this far apart we should do this, and then this and then this...

But on the plus side the frame looks extremely clean and rust free. Two rust spots on the bulkhead near the heater motor, minor rust on the floors and some on the door bottoms. All easy fixes just more time and $.

And looked what showed up from Ashcroft.

A few things going back together and a few more things coming further apart. I thought this was going to be just an engine swap with a little bit of cleaning 🤔. Think my guys are trying to make me nervous.

And my little Cummins wants to identify as a 6.6

First test fit of the engine. Ran into a little problem the engine wouldn’t clear my steering pump, apparently I have a huge Uber rare 6 bolt steering box (thx for the info UD). Was able to cross reference the LR part # and find a four bolt one that fit for a reasonable price too.

Need to get the bulkhead and fenders on to get the height right before we weld the engine mounts.

It fits but back out again to weld in engine mounts and sandblast the frame. We also made some custom bulkhead lifting brackets.

By the time we are done we should have it almost figured out.
