Huh. I thought Jalapnik went all political. Glad to see the are posting some car stuff again.

I'm torn about it. I actually like Jalopnik for car stuff (and Kotaku for gaming stuff) and its nice keeping tabs on "the other side" by reading whatever inflammatory nonsense is linked on the side.... but I hate giving anything in the (former) Gawker network clicks.

Cool article, cool truck.

However, I feel like ECD toots their horn a little too much and embellishes work they do. They call trucks with bolt on wheels/tires/lights/suspension "full builds", and charge as if it features hours of custom work. No, that isn't a full build, that is something mechanically inclined people can do in their own garage. That is the impression I get from following them on Facebook. This truck however is a full build. Icon does "full builds".

P.S. That pep boys Spectre intake is shit and looks like an afterthought.

“You’re telling me we could roll it and that thing would survive,” I asked, ever skeptical of rolling jungle gyms like this.
“Yes. It’s structural and integrated to the chassis,” was the reply.

Cool bro, it's a bolt on Safety Devices cage.

While Icon removes and re-cuts every tiny piece down to the door handles in upgraded material, the first thing I grabbed on the East Coast Defender 110 was a passenger handle “leather-wrapped” ...by one of those velcro seat belt pads. And that’s a tough first impression to overcome when the vehicle costs as much as a decent house in some parts of the country.

I guess I get the whole $170,000 defender thing, but I really don't.

Yeah, I agree.

I think this one caught my eye because as far as the super-Defender mod market is concerned, this is one of the few that actually still looks the part in a lot of ways. ...but even if I had that kind of cash to drop, I'd never buy this...

Don't get me wrong, if I had the jack I would have an LC 9 sitting in my engine bay right now!
