June 14-16th
Portsmouth Island is an uninhabited 21 mile long island. Its part of North Carolina's Outer Banks and is just below Ocracoke. Driving on the beach is permissible and we pretty much take over the island for the weekend.
Its part of the Cape Lookout National Seashore. The island is accesable via a privately run ferry and the Park Service has cabins that sleep 6 on the dunes right above the high tide line. Bring your rover and family. Friday eve we do a low country shrimp boil. Saturday evening we do grilling and Newman does a smoked pulled pork bbq.
As of this evening there were 6 more cabins available for that weekend, or camp in some secluded spot down the beach. There is a large bath house for those who want to camp.
If you need more info shoot me a pm. The cabins are named Long Point on the park services website. Link https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/233333
