The Defender Source forum's new layout seems to match the new Defender so maybe keep them over there and this forum can be for classic Series. Who votes aye?

I have no problem with a Series forum if there would be input into it.

Conversely, I see no reason not to have a 2020+ Defender forum. Once those things start shipping, I think there'll be postings. If not, it can be removed at that time.

Thanks. I didn't know there was a Series forum here already. That's too bad classic Defender owners are still clueless when it comes to even older Land Rovers. Can't imagine what the difference will be between classic Defender owners and the new crowd.

Hang on.... calling all Defender owners clueless ain’t right. I miss the weekly tinkering with cars.

Moving this to the General section. There is nothing “technical “ or “2020 Defender“ happening here.
i won’t comment on our members being called clueless other than you couldn’t be more wrong Andrew.

I also think it's somewhat odd that a forum dedicated to the previous model Defender would have a forum for the current model and not for the Series Rovers, since the "classic" Defender carries a lot of DNA over from the older Rovers and actually shares some parts. I doubt that the new Defender shares a single part from the old one, being so radically different I see it as a Defender in name only.

However, Guns and Rovers really does fill that role nicely as a (primarily) North American based Series Rover discussion board.

We have received requests for a Santana section and multiple different engine sections and a "How To" section. The fact of the matter is that empty sections make a forum look bad or confusing to navigate. We added the "How To" section which is being well used. As previously stated we had a Series section that nobody posted in.
I'll make you guys a deal/offer. Post up enough Series stuff IN THE GENERAL SECTION and in the title start with SERIES in all caps. If we get enough content to warrant its own section we will give it another try and we will merge it all into a Series section. Deal?

Makes sense to me. Then again, I would think the new Defender section would be handled the same way. Maybe there are a lot of people here planning to buy one, or maybe there are few to none.

This is not a gripe, or even a suggestion. Just an observation. I'm perfectly ok with whatever happens and appreciate the work you guys do.

With a site like Guns and Rovers up and running, we don't need a Series dedicated section. Doesn't mean I won't discuss Series rigs here, and they are close enough in a lot of ways that some conversations just blend. However, I do agree that the new Defender should have its own sub-section. Already it is a different enough vehicle that it simply won't blend well. Maybe it is so different that it doesn't belong here, but that's not something I am worried about. If I ever get one, I'll still come here to post questions as long as they have the spot for it. And it is called the Defender, and it is still being referred to as the NAS version, so the web site title fits.

I was referring to the comment by Rwollschlager who stated, "Some of the series advice I’ve seen posted on d source was cringeworthy and incorrect." I believe that would constitute "clueless." I used that as part of my point that Defenders are much more similar to Series trucks than they are to the new Defender. I mean, LR retroactively calls all Series "Defender" and the classic Defenders are just a newer Series. So given those facts, it surprised me that classic Defender owners wouldn't be at all familiar with Series trucks. Therefore, the difference in knowledge between classic Defender owners and new Defender owners in regards to the technicalities of the vehicles will presumably be extreme.

And now since the thread has been moved into another forum, the title and question don't make sense. Therefore, it should probably be deleted. I'm impressed you guys are so anxious for the new Defender and can't wait to have a dedicated forum full of new users. I didn't know so many people have an affinity for it, so my apologies. From reading posts on the D source forum I formed the opinion most people don't like it. Boy was I wrong! I only offered the Series forum suggestion (as opposed to just deleting the forum) because it seemed very strange that only 1983+ Land Rovers have dedicated forums on this site.

I don't have any interest in the new "Defender" (although I do have a LEGO one still in the box). I also don't have a Series, but if I did & I wanted a section dedicated to it, this seems like a good offer. Time to get posting!
