P gasket at the same time as water pump?

Stupid question, should the P gasket be replaced at the same time as the water pump or can I keep the existing one if not leaking stay? I think a few of the water pump bolts are the same one that hold the casting on..

It is true those same bolts hood the p gasket in place, but you do not need to do both at once. Probably not a bad idea to

Just don’t let the p-gasket slip down and fall out of place and cause a huge leak where you have to drain most of the coolant and start over again even though you checked like five times to make sure that didn’t happen.

I've used that in the past, but the last one that went in wouldn't stop weeping until I used hylomar on both sides.
I bought a can of the spray hylomar and didn’t have any issues after my install. I felt the prep was important as well. Making sure both surfaces were clean and smooth.
