What’s the job like to replace the oil and transmission cooler lines in a 1998 DI?

If I remember correctly, the transmission cooler line on the top of the transmission is a PITA to get to. I think that you can easily loosen it, but it hits the transmission tunnel when you try to remove it.

But the operation isn't technical? Just refill when done? How much oil should I expect to pour all over the place before I can catch it?

Replaced ours ('97 NAS) while the engine was out...so, that was easy :)

I used two oil drain pans...one at the rad and one at the transmission.

Wasn't horribly messy. I did try to NOT allow all the fluid to siphon out and got a reasonable estimate of how much needed to be replaced.

No, I didn't read the manual ;)

Hasn't blowed up yet!
