Non-Galvanized Chassis?

Does anyone offer them? On the west coast it's hard to justify the galvanizing when a regular chassis would last a lifetime or more on an occasional-use vehicle. A few years ago at the Portland ABFM there were was a booth displaying replacement non-galvanized chassis with various design improvements. I thought they were made locally but can't seem to find them.

Galvanizing adds like $200 to the cost. Hard to justify ?

I’m admittedly unfamiliar with the cost of chassis galvanizing. It’s just unnecessary here. I saw no reason to incur any cost for it, or deal with the annoying edges galvanizing leaves when dealing with threaded parts and pulling looms. If it’s really that inexpensive of a process then that’s fine too.

When I bought my galvanized chassis it was nearly perfect. No flash no needing to tap out holes was ready to go. It looks awesome too.

I live in the Bay area where it rains maybe 2 months a year. Wouldn't do anything else

A galvanized chassis insures longevity regardless of geographic location. The difference in cost is completely negligible. The addition in $ value to a future prospective buyer for the piece of mind gained far far exceeds the the present day cost differential.
IMO if you you are going to extreme of changing your chassis it would be fool hardy to not use one thats been dipped.

To answer your original question, a "replacement chassis" can be ordered from any Land Rover dealer and this will come from Solihull. It will come painted black. Is it more expensive than an aftermarket galvanized one ? Absofrigginglutely.
FWIW- we sandblast and dip "replacement" chassis that we get through Land Rover, because that improves on the original design, something we try to do whenever possible.

FWIW, we can sell any of our Marsland(the only real option for aftermarket) chassis non-galvanized, they are the same cost for us.

It is technically an option, just not one I'd use unless I didnt have another option. The difference in quality is huge. We only sell Richards Series chassis because Marsland stopped making them.

$200 extra...Chump change when a rechassis project will cost you many thousands more just in parts. Forget adding labor if you don't do it yourself, and I bet few do.
You don't have to leave the chassis with its galvy finish exposed if you want black.

I went with a Richards on my truck when I did my replacement because they were the only place that would stamp a frame for me prior to dipping. When I was calling around.

For my truck the frame is fine zero issues. I don't think I would put one on an NAS

This makes me feel pretty good about the muy coin I spent having a Richard's installed under my NAS. 🤔

At least it's better than the original frame where I could literally put my fist through a number of places.. another reason to go galvy.

The only reason I would buy an ungalvanized chassis would be if I was going to repower and needed to weld some different motor mounts on before getting it dipped.

Have two friends with Richards chassis under their trucks, both went with Richards assuming a galv chassis is a galv chassis and the Richards was cheaper. Neither fit worth a damn. Both had significant alignment issues (cutting/welding/grinding). Have a galv Richards 110 v8 chassis here and its been sitting for years unused, we keep ordering GKN/Marsland/OEM chassis from Zack instead.

My doors (both sets) have never fit right on my Richards chassis despite many hours of tweaking all of the components. I never considered that the chassis may just be wrong. It's frustrating. The Mantec bumper never fit right, either, because the chassis holes were not aligned properly. That was definitely a chassis issue.
