I had a Truetrac installed in my '97 approximately 1,100 miles ago, and unlike the one in my old '95 it makes a pinging sound when turning, only after warm. Just driving around town nothing but after driving for any significant amount of time, and I am assuming it is heat related, it starts making a pinging/popping sound when turning. It sounds like someone is tapping on the ends of the axles with a ball peen hammer, and the pitch of the sound changes depending on which way the vehicle is turning. I think it feels like it is locking up. After 500 miles the installing shop drained the fluid and found no significant metal shavings, and confirmed the correct fluid was used. I can live with the sound, but since I am driving it from NM to TX Friday after next I would rather it not blow up on me around Amarillo.
Any thoughts? Thank you.
