Newbie and need help

Tithonus

New member
This is my first post.

Recently purchased an '85 Tithonus and have it in the shop for some maintenance that is above my paygrade. They found a small fuel leak coming from a little crack in the "delivery valve."

Truck started idling really hard before I took it in and it also started to bog down.

The truck is a father-son project so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

You will probably need to find somebody parting out a 12J motor or find a talented Tig welder to fill in the crack. Member Ranewman usually has a few motors laying around. Send him a PM.

Is there some particular reason he would need a whole engine for this one part? I’d say a second engine isn’t a bad idea in general, though, if you’ve got the room to store it and pick parts off as needed.

LOL... I'm so tired.... Up till 1:00am, Up at 5:00am, to work till 9:30, two hour drive to state music competitions, two hour drive back, 1/2 hour at home, 4 hours in the rain at the track meet, back home, looking at NAS-ROW on my phone while trying to eek out a few more minutes of consciousness.

I assume this is part of the injection pump. You need to see an injection shop that does CAV pumps. It is not really anything within the "Land Rover" parts system. Perhaps someone can recommend a decent local shop.

Part 458: 7174-891
or the whole thing
Part 450: 7167-2552

But...if there are issues, it probably needs to see a test bench. It all gets expensive quickly.

Side question , how would one turn up the fueling on this pump ? Tried the obvious to no avail ...is it adjustable from the outside ?

Since there is no turbo, you'd probably just end up with smoke instead of power if you did.
