I've stopped in to a few off-road redneck shops, they basically have nothing. Well.... except oversized bumpers and anything labeled with some version of "xtreme".

The 1/2 conduit might be an option. I'll check into it.

OK... so I got a bit of 1" tubing. We measured it in the store, and it looked good. The guy gave it to me for a dollar because it came from their scrap pile. But when I got home I realized that what we measured was actually a sort of wrinkled end bit.... that is, it was actually about .85 inches inside diameter, only the end 1/2 inch or so was squished so that it looked like it was .75 inch inside diameter. (The other end was threaded, so we didn't measure it there.) The outside diameter was spot on, though, so I have hope that another trip might get this solved.

That is 3/4"-SCHD 40 pipe. You need SCHD 80.

I ran across that terminology last night. I assume the 80 means it will have the thicker wall?

Basically, I'm looking for exactly that, ploy bush inserts. But I can't seem to find specifics on any that show exact measurements.

Every company has different sizes, when I say poly bush I mean Polybush.UK so are the ones in my picture fit the size you need???

Yes. 3/4"-SCHD80 is 0.742" ID.

I don't think so, if I'm reading the notes correctly. The shock mount shaft is standard to lots of Land Rovers of this era, but the outside diameter that fits into the rubber bushings in these shocks is the key.

I had originally tried measuring in millimeters, but they resolved into odd fractions: 19.1-25.3 inside to outside

But in an unrelated event, I ended up with a shock mount sitting on my workbench and was able to see that the measurements are very exact in inches: .75" inside, 1" outside. So the wall of the sleeve must be 1/8".

Roversnorth has a nice deal on full sets of shocks and springs from OME, plus you get to work with Zach... always a good decision

So I gave the size of poly bushing tubes that the Robert of Davies used more likely, the size I gave you was a gnats foreskin shy. front radius arm (wide) dug those out of may spares box which I would have sent you but that box is know shut. Good luck in your quest.

I appreciate that, the community always has open parts boxes here and there.

I'm afraid of it being just shy. That's a perpetual knocking sound waiting to happen.

I looked at a few options, and what I'm finding is that 3/4 of an inch isn't always 3/4 of an inch. I also made sure to use two different sets of calipers to re-measure a few times. It's just about .74 inches, about 18.8mm. And all three of the tubes (steel, PVC, and brass) that I've tried have been about .76 inches, or about 19.3mm. This is too much of a gap.

However, in looking at the various options on ordering from Amazon. This one finally popped up with tolerances that would mean that .75 inches really is .75 inches. The prices of these things are all over the place. This one is a good price. Some others I looked at were anywhere from $20-$120 for just one. I'm pretty sure this will work. If not, I'll cut my losses. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G8X878E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'll post up my results, and a review of these miracle shocks when I've got them on!

I finally got mine on.

The sleeves I ordered almost looked too nice to put on an old Land Rover. And when I slid them on the shaft, they were a near perfect fit. There was just a tiny bit of lateral movement that, given the angle of the shock once installed, would probably not be a problem. But I applied a single strip of foil tape to the shaft and this allowed it to fit snugly. The sleeve slides into the rubber bushing on the shock with a bit of clamp pressure, then the rest of the install is very straightforward. Seem made for the Rover.

I can't say that I saw any miracle cornering abilities with these, but keep in mind that my springs are old, and my front shocks are dead as what my rears were. I can say that there is no negative to installing these; especially if they really are OME made by Monroe, but not labeled OME. They are real Monroe shocks, stamped, and labeled, and robustly built. Much better than the stock shocks.

So for $120 on Amazon, plus the $15-20 for the set of sleeves, you probably can't go wrong. I'll keep you updated if anything changes over the next few months.
