New Ministry of Defender AC kit

A passing thought I had..could this unit be designed for UK summers where a heatwave is around 30C, whereas here, that's when I consider rolling up my long sleeves?

Interesting as I have been corresponding with them with a view to fitting into my 110 but was trying to figure out the vents without adding the puma dash bubble they also supply.
I believe on their installations they used secondary electric fans to boost air flow through the vents.
Did you do this on yours or just allow the unit fan to push?

re performance AC's on my both D2's aren't all that effective in the Texas summer so maybe your comment about designed for UK summer is correct.
(and D2 has way narrower panel gaps and better door seals than the 110). Still 60 degree air from the vents is still way better that 100 deg and 100% humidity from the dash flaps!

Yea that is unfortunate to hear the performance issues with these units so far. I would looking at this to save the already precious leg room in these defenders as a 6’2” guy, as well as it was suppose to also be an improvement on heat and defrost which for me was also an a consideration. I don’t live in the north but I do live where we see 20-30 degree days and frost. Hopefully somebody will figure out a solution to these and the concept fits my needs to a T and sounds like others.

'was wondering the same thing. If the AC is designed to handle those holiday trips through the Chunnel to the south of France, it may have a tough time dealing with Arizona in the summer.

I don't see why you couldn't install a much bigger condenser than whatever comes with the kit. Every Defender with ac I have seen has a pretty small condenser.

How is the heat ouput on this unit? Is it any better than OEM?
It seems better based on my hour and a half drive back from Trevor's shop yesterday.

Some updated pics (and video) post-install. Overall it looks like its meant to be there, I'm really happy with how it turned out. Please let me know if there are any questions. The volume of air is very impressive.

A few different hose fittings and other bits that Trevor sourced to route the hoses from box to compressor around the engine instead of (default) over it

Do you have any pics of how it is ducted from the BOX to your vents there? That's quite nice.

Unfortunately not as the dash is reassembled. But it generally uses the same "plumbing" as the heat used to but now paired with the "cavity" that was added by the mud uk console (and the 2 additional vents in it).

Reporting back on this thread about hte MoD AirCon kit now that I've had a few hot days, still pretty impressed. The volume is immense, especially when compared to the former heat only volume. Cooling is good and yes I've had cars with colder Aircon (my former D3 for instance) but honestly its on par with my wife's 2018 GTI. Overall I'm happy with it and happy to answer any usage questions!

Also if note, I had to grind off the top tabs of the compressor because it was hitting the hood. And for the wiring, I had picked up the painless 3 circuit (1 constant 2 switched) fuse block. 1 switched goes to my madman ems3 gauge, the constant goes to a double relay setup I made for the cooling fan/compressor clutch and the other switched is used for the dash vent fan
