As a side note, Bill Burke actually got his hands on a new 110 and is driving it in Moab. He has a few posts on FB with his impressions. Looks like the tires didn’t fair too well.

I’m no off-road expert, but this trail looks legit and the new defender seemed to handle it well with no mods (except aired-down BFG A/Ts). Pretty impressive, but I’m sure land cruiser, raptor, etc can do the same. It’ll be interesting to compare the new bronco, new defender and the Grenadier. They’ll all be revealed within a month or two...

A legit trail it is. Not sure what it’s like these days. Ran it a few times in 2005 and 2006. I had 235/85s and no traction aids. I’m pretty sure a guy ran it with me once in a DII with just a lift 2” lift and no CDL so only the traction control. I’m guessing it’s somewhat different these days. That thing looks like it was doing a lot of skipping. I can’t get over the lack of interior space in a vehicle that size the more non corporate pictures and videos that come out show.

Especially in the rear area. I like my seating tight, but I want lots of cargo space. And this thing falls short.

Looks really good and suspiciously like a NAS 90.
And rumored to have optional front locking diff and electronically controlled disconnecting sway bars. Those new Defender sales will plummet before they even begin getting them here in significant numbers if someone can option out a Bronco to over $65k.

I guess I just can't imagine buying a vehicle, especially new, at that price, without being fully aware of the competition, and the history of the brand, etc... I guess I'm too careful with my money?

To some (not all), it's not about the actual vehicle, it's about the status. Once the "look at me" wears off, they will sell due to the harsh ride, and limited creature comforts, or it will just sit in the garage. Exact same thing happened with the 930, and really a lot of new air cooled 911's back in the day. Expensive, fast, stiff, limited AC/Heat, noisy. That's why there were so many with low miles. I bought my 930 in 2004 with 30K miles on it. Have 145K on it now.

Have you driven or even sat in a Defender 2? I'd like to encourage anyone reading this or participating in this thread or forum to see one in person and actually spend some time with the vehicle and drive it before judging it based on its name.

I've feel no compelling reason to rush to any LR dealer and test drive one. Let alone buy one.
But if I was forced to get one, I'd wrap or paint the body color A pillar and C pillar "suitcase" black to match the other trim and create a floating roof feature. These two features, painted body color, just irritate my design preference.
Always loved the old RRC floating roof feature.

yeah I don't understand why they didn't do that, it looks good.. the floating C-Pillar looks weird, and HUGE..

Was getting an oil filter and checking out the new relocated dealership and this guy was just taking ownership of his. But didn’t seem to know Much about Defenders. Dealer was pretty stoked to have mine show up to show him where they came from.
