New Defenders starting to show up at dealers

The Portland dealer is fairly good at being involved with the community. Several of them are in the club.

They've had a few in Portland for about a year, actually, but I think two of them might have been RHD prototypes. There is at least one X model in Portland that has been seen. But I don't think the dealer has officially got any in stock, unless it was one at a time for the earliest orders.

I haven't owned a Ford product for 10+ years but growing up my dad always had Ford trucks including 3 late 70s/early 80s Broncos...loved them back then. I agree, if everything they say is true this could be the one to equal/better the Jeep. A seven speed manual and locking F&R diffs has got my attention.

I believe they have a sister dealership out of state, trucks could be available there & shipped up I suppose, I'm just going by the website. I do see the website pricing appears to be substantially more than what is listed in your link to the same site. Your link shows $49,900 for the base S while the website advertisement for the available S is showing just a hair below $62K. I don't hate the truck but at $62k you can count me out.

Which listing are you seeing? I want to keep track of it so I know when to expect when I can wash my Defender -- after I drive it to the dealer with the dirt on it from camping.

They are marking up the price for the “First Edition”. I can sort of understand, but there isn’t anything I can find about these that is any different than anything else I can build and order online. Seems like it might be a strategy that will backfire.

These are the closest New Defenders I can find that are listed and that actually seem to exist.

By the way, notice the list price vs. the original price from factory? $20k difference is a lot. Make you wonder how much you can save by ordering online and waiting for a few months.

I passed a new 110 on the highway, definitely was craning my neck, the driver definitely had no idea I was driving a Defender lol

Who are these people that would buy it and not even know what an original Defender is....?

Who are these people...,,

Oh, I think you'd be surprised how many that will stumble upon the Defender (the what?) in the overall search/buying process..and would not know, or could care less about what came before.

Totally agree with uc4me, their not buying because its a defender but that it meets their need as an urban vehicle. Most will never take off road. Then again I’ve only taken my Ex mod to the grocery store, hardware store and restaurants downtown Mpls MN

I was in a dealer for service in '99. Lady looked me up and down and said what kind of LR do you have.

Me: A defender
Her: what is that?

There were a couple on the lot for service, sale, etc.

I just shook my head.

On a related note there were people that owned Hummer H2's that had no idea what a real Hummer was or some that referred to it as the Old one.

I guess I just can't imagine buying a vehicle, especially new, at that price, without being fully aware of the competition, and the history of the brand, etc... I guess I'm too careful with my money?
