Yeah. I’m not sure it is much of a point either. They already said it was based on the same platform, but with bigger ball joints and such.

The thing that does concern me a bit is the plastic everywhere.

Weird. This video makes it look like there are metal skidplates:

Wonder if the fiber stuff is just some pre-production mockup? It would just seem weird to actually make a part that fits under there, then have it be plastic. Even the LR4 has a factory-standard metal skidplate that goes under the engine.

The disco and the RRC were basically the same thing as the old Defender. I don’t quite get that guys point.

You are a little backwards on your timeline... The RR came out first. The 90/110 came out 13 years later and used the same drivetrain and suspension with stronger axles, a stronger frame and an updated Land Rover body. Large amount of the new model where identical to the old. It made it better both off and on road.

The Discovery was a very simple rebody of the RR. The rolling chassis was 100% identical. Only the body changed.

This new vehicle they are producing has no connection at all to the old. The original Land Rover was meant to be a good off road vehicle that was acceptable to drive on the road. The new Defender is a good on road vehicle that is acceptable to drive off road. IMO, the priorities are backwards. This should have been a vehicle that broke new ground off road and embarrassed any other stock vehicle including its predecessor off road, while being decent on road. It would have been simple to do, and they would have made a killing, but the current design team really does not understand of what I speak.

Andrew St Pierre White from 4xOverland does a great anaylsis on the new Defender and how it will the specs will contribute to the vehicle's capabilities as a 4x4 or as an Overland rig.
That was really good I thought. Thanks for sharing! He really nails at the end there. But yeah overall he has good points.

I thought ASPW nailed it. He did not repeat at the end that USA does not get the coil spring version. Air suspension only. So the model he gets excited about (diesel, coils) will not be available here as of now.

I've seen people unable to sit up straight on the tail with the rear door open. Questioning interior space.

He does not seem to mentioned the unacceptably small cargo room. Maybe after he sees one.

Yes, I noted this as well. There are a few actual hands-on videos up from people who did walk arounds while at the show, and I was really surprised at how small the cargo space is. It looks like it is between Disco I and Disco II size. Nothing compared to the 110, or even a 90 with no seat in the back.

Palatable render...some decent work considering what you are starting out with. ;)

is that a Sisal or Jute Rope... makes a difference to the stretch for snatching.......
I was really just thinking whatever takes away from the factory front end, is a win...That being said, I'm not a ropesman. But I think sisal is "heavier" type?

I think putting all that off road gear on is like cooking with garlic & butter - everything is better with garlic & butter. One of the things I like about the classic Defender is, even stock, it just looks off road capable.
