New Defender, 2020

Probably not as nobody will know what is the older one nor will they see any connection to it whatsoever.

Probably right.

I was just thinking back to the time when the H2 came out and the Hummer was still being sold on the same floor.

That is at least 80% of the people. Their minds are expecting 1950 something. When you say 1990 something, their brains usually lock up. That part is a bit humorous.

I got that look in ‘99 while standing in a Land Rover dealership. There were multiple NAS trucks on the lot, building, etc and this customer had no idea what a Defender was. Almost comical.

Yes. With that you could tell that one is related to the other. I can't see anyone being able to tell that the old and new Defender are related in any way.

Had a guy almost argue with me that my truck had a Ford engine. Told him several times that it was a Buick block... but he kept saying, "No... I think it's a Ford engine." This was in '99 or something.

Yeah got that a lot.

Them: what year is your Rover?
Me: Its a 1997 Defender.
Them: 1967?
Me: 1997.
Them: o_O

At least you won't need to deal with everyone gawking at your truck and asking you stupid questions.

Just this week: "Nice looking Jeep" (pretty common) and this one:

Him: "Is that a Land Rover or a Range Rover?"
Me: "A Land Rover"
Him: "That's what I thought; Toyota makes good stuff".

But the best was at a local beer garden and the young bar girl when I went to the counter to order a beer:
Her: "You're the guy that owns that car, that cool car? That Land Rover" With a look and tone of admiration I never got from a 20-something female even when was a 20-something, unfortunately. LOL, I'm about 30 years too old for it to do me any good.
