The New "Defender" looks more fugly every time I see pics of it.

When are they going to reveal more? The one thing they did say was that they were going to keep revealing more throughout this year.

Depressing article. Sounds like the approach to creating the new defender was the same as the approach to creating the original discovery, resulting in the absence of an actual replacement for the defender.

I'm beginning to think the reason they are taking so long is because they keep getting embarrassed, and run back to change things little by little. It will end up looking like a Jeepney by the time they're done........

They won't be changing anything. The design needs to be pretty much frozen to be able to get production started this year.

Let me be clear. In the first few seconds of the video, vehicle DWJ seems to be making some odd braking sounds. It seems to have some traditional sounding ABS/SC sounds in a few of the scenes; but later, I'm hearing a difference between DWJ and vehicle XSV, which to my ear, has an electric motor sound as it passes slowly in the turns, as you can hear at this particular spot:

You can hear it in multiple spots in the video, and you can also hear a louder ABS type sound on DWJ in multiple spots in the video.

Also, vehicle XSV is the first vehicle that is showing a fuel filler on the left side of the vehicle. I am pretty sure none of the other images we've seen show a filler location on the left, although it is easy to see that the fake body panels might be covering that spot in a few of the images. You can see, however, that it has an odd look, and has no lid. The fuel filler on the other side of this vehicle also has no lid, and also has an odd look for a traditional fuel filler. So this vehicle has two filler locations, both have an odd look to them.

Not sure what the exhaust type might tell us, probably just a different engine option. Both of these vehicles have the same engine, but only one has the dual filler location. Vehicle XSV has a GPS antenna on the top, as well as some other kind of instrument that looks like either a microphone, or a pitot tube. Not sure why that would matter, but it is something that has not been seen until it was seen on this vehicle.

I’m driving a new Mercedes M class this week, because my wife’s GL is in the shop for the millionth time. I don’t think it makes any sound at all when it does the regen braking. On the other hand, it only has 1000 miles on it, and the engine sounds aweful.

I think the first part, crunching, brake type sound you may be right. I'm mostly curious in the electronic hum that is audible over any kind of engine noise.

I got a chance to listen with some good headphones, and I think the first set of sounds is another car in the background. It may even be heard in the opposite channel from where the Rovers is. I can hear the Rover's tires on the snow, a sound that is now distinct from what I was hearing before.

Another thing I could not hear before is a turbo, and DWJ certainly has pistons running. They can be heard as he accelerates away.

XSV has a very distinct electrical whine, and maybe an engine sound, but not as distinct as DWJ. This could be because he is not accelerating as fast? But on the second close, slow turn, there seems to be no engine sound at all, just the electric whine.

Another thing I noticed is that the turn signal/front park light is dual color. It is white while driving, but turns yellow to blink. Not sure if that is something already seen on other Rovers.

And then there's this. They almost ruin it with the rock'n roll music, but.... sounds an awful lot like the New Defender. Listen especially when she is done with the "elephant footprints":

In a certain way, that’s what bugs me most about this vehicle. We know it is going to be different, and we know that what is shown here might get better when they take the camouflage off. But nothing is going to change that ride height and the stupid 20 inch wheels...

Many after market lights and factory lights are clear and only reveal their true color in use. Many forums have second and third generation sections. I'm not sure we'll see too many people here with them. There isn't much D1/RRC/D2/LR3/4 trafffic here. So a generic "Other Land Rovers" section including series/Santana and everything else would be ok.

I am very excited about the 2020 Defender because...... It sucks and that does all of us here a huge favor as we'll all be seen as driving the real thing as opposed to the CUV a typical Hockey/Soccer Mom who's grabbing a Starbucks after her Soul Cycle class on her way to Whole Foods because she doesn't wanna be like her girlfriends driving an Cadillac Escalade. ( I'm here in Westecher NY, so every other soccer mom car is either a caddy or a Mercedes GLS)
