In PA some of the local dealer markup was in the 12k-15k range. i guess the comeback to the US tax? I assume stealerships can do whatever they want in regard to vehicle costs?
Yeah, the stealerships can pretty much do what they want. Funny thing is the same dealership that listed "pre-release" pricing is the same dealer that is advertising jacked prices.

Availability is limited. A few months ago the talk was of only basic models initially. Hopefully dealer push back changed that. First adopters tend to like the all singing all the options versions.

I know the 6cyl adds a good wad of cash to the equation but the base S they are advertising at $62K is 4cyl w/o any bells or whistles. The SE w/ 6cyl and well equipped is advertised at $73k so $12,350 added cost for the 6cyl makes sense but otherwise it's stripped compared to the SE. Seems like they jacked the price of the base model.

According to the US website the base 110 S is $54,375. Keep in mind that almost any change adds cost. $710 for any color other than white. So it does not take much stuff to get it to $62. The $50k is the base model (not S) with nothing. I would doubt they would ever import one like that. They do not even give you a discount for steel wheels.

To be honest, the driving experience is not like an LR3/4. It is very "light on its feet" feeling...The old trucks seem very solid and my D90 and LR3 seem to be very heavy feeling while driving. The new Defender 110 (first edition) is very quick, and feels light while driving....more like the FJ Cruiser I had in '07 compared to my LR3. The LR feels very solid and built like a tank. This one definitely does not have that same feel. It still feels rugged, but not as rugged as the old trucks for sure. If you want to hit a tree and keep going then I'd say that probably ended with the LR3/4 trucks...sadly.

We took our first road trip from ATL to FL today and I have to say I am very impressed. The truck is great to drive, plenty of room for all of our luggage even with the ARB fridge in the back. My son said it was better riding in the back of Defender 2 than it is in the LR3. It has plenty of power for passing cars and in general it was better than my Yukon, Yukon XL, and 3500 HD Denali that I have driven down here in the past.

Right on! Thanks for setting up this post. Glad you were able to get one. I haven’t been to a dealer to sit/drive one yet. What kind of front arrangement do you have? Buckets? Where do you find your right knee/shin lands when driving? LR3 we have, I seem to find the center dash near the heater controls. Just curious if there is more room or not.
do you have the cooled seats? If so how well do you find they work?

What do you think happens when people who don't know how to drive off road take a modified Gladiator, Freelander xxl, D90 and 4 Runner up into the Colorado Mountains.....

Any of the rover people on the forum?
I enjoy the TFLT review videos. Helped me out when I was in the market for a new truck. I think they do a really good job comparing and giving real world reviews.

I don't watch these guys because the commentary is just laughable and they irritate me. If you want to be taken as a serious automotive "journalist"...PLEASE, research so you don't sound stupid. These guys fall into the category of more money than sense.

The Rubi was under driven, the spotting was... well not great, and the dad should shut up when there is a spotter present - and he isn't it.
One driver, one spotter.

The Newfender, meh, in both looks and performance.

Wasn't a buyer of the Newfender, own a T4R Trail, but may buy a Gladiator or Bronco. That is the camp I am in.

I have the 2 bucket seats version. The center console area is taller and my shin or leg doesn't hit anything. I think the LR3 is a little bit more narrow in comparison. I can post a pic. No cooled seats on mine, just heated. I have the partial leather/canvas seats. The Defender 2 definitely has a lot more in common with the LR3 or 4 than it does with the old Defender we all love. There are some small throwbacks to Defender in the design, but nothing significant. I definitely think it should have been in the Discovery family and not called Defender. If so, there would be a lot less criticism of the vehicle and fuss over the whole Defender name hang up that we have going on. Another point I'd like to make is that I have a 97 Defender that I bought new in 1997, and have had a 1994 that I bought new, and another 1997. This is not that kind of vehicle at all. It's not going to give you that feeling when you drive it. I will say that I am glad to see LR putting in some sort of effort to reclaim a little bit of their off roading heritage back. They seemed to abandon that a while ago in favor of 22 inch rims and celebrities. I believe it is a step in the right direction. Did they nail it? No. But, it is a start, so let's give them some time to make some improvements and get their head back in the game now that Ford, Jeep, and others are all in.

I thought the exact same thing about the Jeep driving. Let the guy drive his vehicle and follow the one spotter.

That happened to me while boating last year. 4 people on the dock telling me what to do. All thinking they are expert boaters . I couldn't hear the dock master trying to properly guide me in. It made an easy situation very frustrating.

I saw a New-fender yesterday while driving the 110 around. It's been said before and I agree it should be badged an LR6 or Disco 6. The guy had a pretty confused look as I drove by, haha.

I saw one over the weekend. Biggest throwback i liked was the package tray/ dashboard. Trucks looks good!
The dash is very nice, I personally think they did a great job with the interior. I liked the way the I6 drove. I would like to drive one of the 4Cyls to see what it is like.

A friend has a 2nd gen 110 that is getting the yet to be released Trek kit installed as a test truck.
He's bringing it to Moab with our group. Should be interesting.
