For those of you with the three individual seats in the middle row (not 60/40 split) I'm looking for the space between the two outer seats. Basically I'm looking to see if I can fit an Engel 45 fridge between the seats if I leave the middle one out. Right now I have a 60/40 split, but would like to update the seats to some with headrests. Please note which style seat you have. Thanks!

I have two fronts in the rear. The space is the same as a normal cubby box width. You could squeeze maybe 13 inches in between the seats. The seat belt buckles make is hard as they decrease the space.

good luck 👍🏻

I have Exmoor seat cushions and backs installed and removed the middle seat. The distance between the seats is 18".

I too will be installing an Engel 45 Fridge Freezer Combi between the seats. The Engel is 14.3" wide. Should be enough width to use the transit bag too.

I hope to have this installed by years end

Nice, be sure to post up some pics once you're done.

Can you post a pic of the seats you're using? I'm just curious which style they are.

I installed the Classic Low Back. The back is higher that the standard but due to the additional height they will not fold down into the footwell behind the front seats as I assume the standard seats will. The backs do fold forward but will not allow the frame to tilt forward very far.
The higher backs do give the 2nd row passenger more comfort.

Like Surveyor, I also have 18" between my seats. I have the high back Exmoor seats and run an Indel B fridge between them.

By having it in the middle certainly frees up space for me in the back which I like. It's obviously not as handy to get food and drinks when cooking off the back, so a little downside to that. Passengers like the quick access to drinks and snacks while driving. Overall its working for me and I like it.

Installed the Engel 45 Fridge/Freezer Combi and Locking Transit Slide between the seats. There is 2 inches of clearance between the seat and unit on each side.

So I have discovered the major issue with the setup (for me). Due to the small back seat area, a child seat will only fit in the middle rear when rearward facing, so I think I'll have to wait a few years to do this.

Just build a small frame for the rear wheel load area and stick it up there.. that way you can still fold the seats flat and sleep in the rear & get the child seat in. Or just wing it with a rachet strap on the fridge sitting on the wheel well and a couple of rings to secure it from up/down movement with some other straps. that works too... ask me how i know haha

I think you should have started a new topic, these don't really belong together at all. That said, hot issue for me and I have a few old cars (and two in car seats). A few thoughts:

1). Buy a smaller car seat....there are plenty, don't let the wife tell you a certain brand is needed to keep up appearances, they all do the same job. I've got 12 seats and each set is meant for a different car for the best fit. I've got mostly gracos for the defender and others but I use coscos (40 bucks from Walmart) in the 911 because they were by far the best fit.

2). Lap belts whenever possible. I have added many sets of lapbelts to cars where I had existing mount points that could be utilized. In the defender that meant I had 3 point and separate lap belts in the same seat depending on if I had the car seats in there or adults.

3). This seems like common sense but just in case. You should be IN the car with your body weight in the carseat (knee) as you are tightening the F out of the seat. Thing shouldn't move a millimeter even with just a lapbelt if you do that.
