Left Hand Drive Conversion, Insurance - Ontario, Canada

I am at a crossroads with my right hand drive 110. I have a claim and ticket free driving record, but my insurance was recently cancelled due to the insurer having been purchased. I was just quoted $4,500/ year for insurance and require an MOT like safety; to be honest, I am not sure I would pass due to some rust issues.

I have been saving for a bulkhead repair/replacement and left hand drive conversion, and the Rover gods seem to have decided that this is the time. I plan to take the 110 off the road, get some new shoelaces for the family hiking boots, collect parts and do the conversion over the summer when the driveway isn’t packed with snow and ice.

Question - for those that have done the conversion have you been able to register as a left hand drive? Or, is the vehicle classed as a modified or hot rod type vehicle? It does not stipulate anywhere on my ownership - right hand drive. I realize this is a country by country - region by region question, but I am interested in peoples experience (I am in Ontario, Canada). Even from the perspective of maybe having to sell the vehicle someday.

It’s tough being a Land Rover fan these days - on top of simply making it to the next sunrise. I have posted the odd article on my website about doing repair work and have been cautioned about possible ramifications in the event of an accident. Bugger.... not a good time to own a set of wrenches and possess some basic skills and commons sense.
