Leaking IP

As I stop one leak she starts another.

My IP is leaking diesel. Looks like it's coming from the back. The lines are all dry and I can't see any diesel on top. I see it from below dripping off the rear.

Thoughts and is this something I can fix in place or will I need to remove the IP?

Thanks,
Alex

There is a threaded cover between the 4 pipes the run out the back. Check to see if it's leaking from there. If so wrap the thread with oil resistant teflon tape and reinstall it.

Leaks on the Bosch IP as you describe are usually attributed to a failed O-ring between the main body and distributor component. Check all the in/out ports for tightness (including the fuel stop solenoid) to rule out a loose fitting. After that you will need to replace the o-ring as they flatten over time. It can be done in-place, but it's a tricky job to do it in the truck. Pull the IP and replace the O-ring on the bench.

We have o-ring replacement kits in stock if you can't source locally.

I need to remove and replace my fuel shut off solenoid. I've tried cutting down a 24mm spanner so I would not need to disturb the IP but its still too tight back there. Next obvious option is to remove the cable position bracket to hopefully get a better grip. Can I remove the bracket temporarily without messing up the IP alignment?

At 5:08 he addressing removing the solenoid. If you don't want to watch it, yes you can remove the bracket without disturbing the pump timing.

This is a timely post. My IP in the tdi disco just started leaking.

I haven't ruled out a loose fitting yet, but I'm not hopeful. Looks like it is coming from the big O-ring.

I'm due for a timing belt so its nto the worst time for this to happen bu tI'm still not happy.

Any advice is welcome!

Mine appears to have stopped. Wondering if it was more related to the replacement of the lift pump.

Easier to do the o-ring on the bench if you are doing the belt anyway...
