Land Rovers That Suck

When we were on Nantucket last year they all seemed to be quality Land Rovers, some of them had the salt worm, but they were not the disgusting examples you have seen. There was a pristine 109 3 door that was a high dollar restoration at the new yacht club. It appears that Buffy told Biff that they had to have a Defender to summer on the Island and they bought the first thing they saw. Those two are horrible examples.
Are you referring to my gorgeous 109 soft top in dark grey? It was at the yacht club frequently.

Why do people seem to consistently want to "improve" something that's already really good? They sometimes make it into something that it's not. I call it being "gitchy".

Heck yes, one of the nicest ones I have seen in a long time. Who did the restoration?

I was very fortunate. The former owner did a loving restoration, spared no expense and paid attention to every detail. For instance, the 109 has a Winterburn ignition made by the original Winterburn's son in Canada. So it was not done by a professional outfit. I have changed the top to an Undercover Covers top and added an Aeroparts winch and Roamerdrive over drive unit. Heaven. I do know what you mean about Biff and Buffy. The fact is that at least half of the D90's you see on the island are driven by trophy wives. Mostly, '97s.(automatic trans). Not mine.

I was so disappointed when I stopped and talked to an owner of a 109 in not as nice of condition. I asked a couple of questions and he had no clue as to what engine he had, or anything about the rover. He was told he needed a Land Rover for the Island and I guess the mechanic takes care of the rest. We are discussing if we will be back in July, but I always enjoy my Rover sightings out there.

Oh boy. We’ll, at least it’s not on Nantucket!

Not my cup of tea. There is a local actual Woody that I adore. There is a place for everything. But transforming a Defender to one is not such a place. I am in Haven's camp too.
