Land Rovers That Suck

Who is this guy?
Where are the VINs coming from? DMV assigned?
Is it legal to assemble a vehicle completely from parts?
Does the parts being new/used affect that legality?

The 4 as the first number indicates US assembled. Autocheck vin check makes it look like dmv assigned vin number.

I think he‘s picking and choosing between the kit car and small volume manufacture rules to get whatever suits him. Why someone would do this when “donor” restoration candidates are available and relatively cheap is beyond me. Even if he is somehow complying with the letter of the law he’s missing the intent...

I guess if you start from scratch you save on the 10k ish it would cost you for a donor.

technically not a land rover but it definitely belongs here.. mitubishi pajero (montero) with defender panels.

It doesn't look like the truck is ruined, just ugly. It there's a NA under the hood, the looks are even more ridiculous.

It has a lot of work done to it (LS, 6L80E trans, Curry diffs, and 4 link), but some of it is close but no cigar. That dash is horrible, and what's up with the RMI and turn and bank instruments??? And he paid $48k for the truck he destroyed doing this, plus "invested" $322k making it "perfect"- wonder how much it sold for.

Sad thing was just recently spotted on FB at the Ocean Reef club in the keys I believe.
My daughter is supposed to be heading to ORC this week. I'll ask her to look out for it.

I haven't been in over a year but I rarely saw Defenders there. A few Mini Mokes tho (if anyone remembers that guy on d-90.com that sold them).

Its the dash and other interior modes that I can't get over. If it wasn't for that it might be a solid build.
