Is there an interlock solenoid on 1997 D90 NAS V8 automatic?

I took my car out for an off-road trip behind my home, everything are working great except for some reason I couldn't select the low range.

I tried different methods but still no chance. The differential lock is working on high range.

I just wonder if there is an interlock solenoid on LT230Q transfer case. What else should I looking for?

Thanks everyone and have a great sunny day.

When was the last time you used Low range? The mechanism isn't kind to you if not used. At least you have diff lock. Assume you auto box is in N.

Good question, I got the car last year in winter and had been storage since until summer this year.

Yes, the car is in N when engage the diff lock. I can't engage the low range either in stand still or rolling method. I gave up after two hours and drove back home.

What should I check for next? Thanks.

I assume you tried to shift to low in neutral?

assuming so, spray the crap out of the linkage with PB blaster or your penetrant of choice and try again.

Yes, I did. I tried to shift in neutral. It won't budge at all either when stand still and rolling.

Thanks for the head up, will put on a ramp and have at it on my next day off.

Try this. Go out for a long drive (more the merrier) so it good and hot. Auto boxes need to be in N, plus moving slowly to shift into and out of low range.
Now with a hot truck, try to shift from H to low. If your lucky heat has done the trick.

If heat doesn’t do it, you’ll need to access the mechanism see image. It’s not unknown for part 3 to disappear. PB blaster is your friend and patience. The mechanism has simply seized up from lack of use and your helping to free it up.

Thanks Rocky, I just wonder what is the best way to access the transfer box mechanical linkage? Thanks again.

You can also stick your arm up there and spray away. Getting the floor out can be an issue (grinder etc.) and I would make sure to have nee floor board hardware before I undertook the job.

What I do is put it into neutral switch to low range... It doesn't actually engage at that point. Switch to drive... Then back to neutral and I find the lever for low can now go a little further and clicks into low... Goto drive and there you go.

I went under this morning and found out that linkage is full of dirt and grease especially the part connects to transfer case. It's on my do list this Wednesday to blast it out with PB blaster. Thanks everyone and hope it would fix the problem.

Beautiful day today in Quebec, I went ahead and blasted off the linkage with PB blaster. It didn't seem to work even though I emptied half bottle. Good new is the shifter start to move a bit. I will blast more this Wednesday and hopefully it would work.
