I've had good success pulling off the base board and cutting the sheetrock only behind the base. Then you can screw the sheetrock back in when you're done and put the base board back and no one is the wiser.

Another method would be to drill the top plate, drop the fiberglass rod down until it hits the bottom plate on the main floor. If you can be sure youre in the same stud bay, drill up from the basement and stick a piece of fish in there with a bent end, see if you can hook the fiberglass rod with it. That will likely need a larger hold in the bottom plate though just to be able to move the fish steel around.

I know you don't wanna cut sheetrock but sometimes making a nice neat 6" square hole where you can use the cut out piece to patch it, saves hours of fucking around with cockamamie fishing attempts. A good drywall finisher can fix those and you'll never even know it was there.
