High pressure fuel pump test fitting question?

I am a diesel engine neophyte -
I have been having some issue lately with my 92 D90 200 TDI.
A few times recently I have had to step on the fuel pedal for it to start - in the past it usually it just turns over and starts. A couple times it took several attempts to start.
It also has been feeling a bit sluggish when starting off and I have to accelerate the pedal a bit more when in 1st - after that it seems fine..
There are a couple shops a few+ hours from me that work on D90s so I brought the D90 to a local shop (that's done work for me before) for them to check filters and go through - The shop wants to do high pressure fuel pump test - they have the correct Gauges but no port Fitting for the setup - does anyone know what port fitting/thread pitch works with the 200 TDI?

I've never really heard of this type of diagnosis for this issue or on a TDI.

I'm thinking that you're saying that they want to remove the injection pump and then test the pressure output of the injection pump? If so you need highly specialized equipment to do this properly and I don't really think that's your issue.

Start with the basics. Change your fuel filter. Check that the lift pump from the tank is flowing. Check for air leaks in the fuel system. Check the fuel stop solenoid for function.

If you go through the above and you're still having hard starting issues then I will remove the injection pump and injectors and send them out to be rebuilt or looked at at a shop that specifically does Bosch injection. Blue ridge Diesel in Virginia can do it and few other spots.
