Hiccup

So I’m rolling up US29 on the way to Ellicott City doing about 55-60 when the engine hiccups like it’s gonna conk out then catches again immediately and no further occurrences for the rest of the day’s driving. Literally a half second blip.
usually I would suspect the amplifier module but it hasn’t happened again

In my 20 years of ownership, this has happened to me 4 times. Once was the diode pack in the alternator--it was RPM specific. Once was the ballast resistor with my Mallory Ignition. Twice was my ignition switch (It separated and was intermittant) So there are three possibles, I am sure there are 20 more. If I had to guess, I would go with ignition switch. But there can be multiple answers to this one...

Might be switch. These things are made pretty badly. I had the column apart recently which involves removing the switch assembly and those special bolts. The switch literally flew to pieces in the process. When I reassembled it I had to ding the housing that holds the backplate (with all the power wires) to hold it more securely. No idea.

What I do now is drill tiny holes in the metal indents into the side of the housing (three of them) and put eye glass screws (or any tiny screw) into these new holes. It prevents the sides from separating and I have not lost an ignition switch since.

Fuel, fuel pump, injectors, fuel filter. If mine sits for days and not driven at highway speed this happens. When it does I dump 2x injector cleaner and get it out for long drives and fresh fuel. Seems to help keep the 23 yo injectors cleaner and cel off.
