Heater Option?

Maybe?

I'm seeing people use these on their home-build aircraft. Maybe it's a good option to supplement the Defender heat? If I had mine still, I think I'd give this a try in some way.

There are dozens of auxiliary heaters that draw heat from coolant and use forced air.
Some are more compact than others.
It is important to divide the water flow with a T and not a side branch L type fitting to make sure the coolant flows through the core.

I’ve looked at options from Kalori before as well. A bit more automotive focused.

The only bend that was in my heater lines was the one in the heater core. But if I ran the heater blower at over medium speed, it would cool to near ambient temps, even when the engine was at 190+. I always figured a diesel heater might be good for the actual cold days.

I used one of these on my 90. It took a decent amount of fabrication to get the ducting right, but the heat output is substantial.

I'm not sure that pulling additional heat from the not-very-hot 300Tdi cooling system would be worth the effort. I'd rather get a Webasto diesel-powered air heater. The thing I haven't ever figured out about those is where to mount it. I've heard of people mounting them on the wheel wells in the tub but I can't bring myself to cut the holes in the tub.

If the thermal energy isn't there, it certainly doesn't make sense to attempt scavenging it. Do modern small-diesel vehicles, which are even more efficient, struggle to supply heat?

I have a Webasto newly-installed in the SDO enclosure that goes under the cubby. I don't have access right now to take photos, and in full disclosure haven't fired it up since the install, but it is neatly tucked away. https://www.seriesdefender.com/interior/cubby-box-heater-base.html

Mud UK makes a similar one for 75 pounds that is designed to aid in the distribution of heat via vent or hose. Their shipping is pretty cheap and generally quite fast.
