I’m not even sure it’s fair to call this thing a prototype. Driving mock-up is probably closer to the reality. Parts like the bumpers seemed to be fabricated out of a structural composite, like a model making material. Curious to see what actual manufactured parts will look like. Admitedly its not hard to be the fit and finish if the old defender, so a low bar.

do you think what was seen is different than what we see in the videos? Meaning those driving around getting the shit beat out of them are likley NOT what you saw?

Probably repurposed a now useless pre-prototype for inexpensive publicity. I'm looking forward the global tour with their actual testing prototypes.

What was shown was prototype 0001, what we're seeing in the videos today are likely more advanced and closer to a production vehicle.

I think I picked up the differences in the newest videos. In other words, when I watched the earlier videos, and saw pics and renderings of the early test vehicles, I wasn’t impressed with the looks. Hopeful, but not interested.

But with the latest batch of actual driving test vehicles, not computer generated, I very quickly got interested. It took me a few times watching to figure this out. But the ‘real’ truck just has a better feel and stance than that early prototype.

Dumb ass question. Are the front turn signals and side lights built into the headlights? I only see a side marker built into the front bumper.....

Not sure how old this news is or if it was posted previously but Ex LR marketing executive has joined Ineos

Good move.

That pickup caught my eye. I'd seriously consider it vs buying another domestic.

Welp, no diesel option in the US.

That's a kick in the nuts.

This article is disappointing on so many levels.

To keep things simple, Ineos plans just one powertrain for the U.S., a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 sourced from BMW. It will be mated to an 8-speed automatic and four-wheel-drive system with a two-speed transfer case. A diesel will be offered in other markets.

And

As for pricing, Ineos plans to position the Grenadier above affordable off-roaders like the Bronco and Wrangler but below the luxury level of the G-Class. Automotive News posits a price range between $75,000 and $120,000.

Modern diesels are too complicated any more and gas engines keep getting better. It's a loss to the old-school diesel lover, but maybe not to the practical perspective.

Yes, Rudolf would be so proud of how his design has been “improved” by today’s bureaucrats.

And
Just lost me really. I was pretty pumped about the diesel, and was content with BMW's offering. That price point is way higher than originally anticipated, but I guess I knew it would be not cheap, no matter how utilitarian it would be. Still some hope, but dwindling fast.

I was open to $50-60k with a diesel. $75k without? phbbbtttt.

No thanks.

I guess if I want a modern diesel Defender, I'll have to build my own.

I have the BMW X5 with the diesel. It's amazing. I wish it could be in the Grenadier..... And the price point, I think I mentioned $80k at base a few weeks back as my guess. Too bad I was right. I guess I'll be keeping the G-Wagon, maybe getting a used Defender for my daily when the G is too old to take care of as a daily.
