My guess is most people have blown out suspension components and very tired bushings. If everything is in good condition they ride pretty well in my experience.

Agreed, many people will only experience a 25 year old+ Defender in their lifetime, and never drive a new one(especially at this point). When new, they drive fantastic and handle well even at 75mph+.

Most people are only a complete bushing & shock swap from a very drivable vehicle.

I didn't mean to suggest Defs ride poorly on pavement. Their compliant suspension is the main thing that sets them apart from most live axle trucks. However, it was designed prior to 1970. If Ineos can't improve on it, then I'll be surprised.
The RRC rides better than Defs because the Boge strut allows the use of softer springs. 110 County models also had them.
Wouldn't 7000 units exceed the total # of NAS Defs 1993-1997?
Btw, the baby blue must be the anti mas macho color option. Nice.

All my Classics are 95s on coils without the Boge strut. All ride very well.
I guess what I am saying is that the RRC/Defender/D1 suspension was far ahead of its time. It was copied and replicated by all other manufacturers, to different degrees of success.
Compared to that, the Grenadier's suspension is relatively conventional. The links are shorter, so I don't expect either terrain-following ability or long lifetime of the suspension bushings. Still, it is far better than a Bronco or a Wrangler.

That's almost my favorite color. I'll see - tomorrow! - how much more is blue with white roof than all-white.

The baby blue was the first one I saw in person. Still my first choice, although my daughter is all about the magic mushroom

100% on this. I try to sell customers on new bushings, springs, and shocks on most Defenders that come to my shop.

I did a test drive last week. While there wasn't any really challenging terrain the vehicle had little trouble keeping the tires on the ground. I was looking for every opportunity and the instructor gave me free reign. Finally lifting a tire i got a little scrub/slip before the vehicle moseyed on easily. I ended up nearly sideways on some obstacles and managed to tilt it to 20º. An aftermarket front sway bar disconnect system would give the suspension adequate travel for most any use short of serious rock crawling. Here's my unprofessional take:

If you love the original Defender and hate the new Defender - Keep your 110.

If you love the new Defender and hate the old Defender - Keep the new one.

If you like them both - Get a Grenadier.

The Eldoret Blue is fun and disarming without being garish. Great color.

Pricing of options is all over the place, but I do like that you can get heated seats ($535.00) and premium stereo ($700.00) independent of other items that are usually bundled in packages - not to mention front/rear diff locks that don't require a package also containing garish wheels + fender flares + etc.

$1,280.00 for a contrast roof and $2,150.00 for safari windows is a little dear... speaking of, has anyone put eyes and fingers on the safari windows? They certainly are a neat option, but the cost overwhelms.

The IG I test drove had Safari windows and they are removable and comes with a case to store them.
My configuration includes a contrast roof but no safari windows as they are a bit expensive (to me).
Now the decision to pull the trigger.

I spent a lot of effort to get our ‘96 D1 suspension exactly where I wanted it, without going overboard. This is exactly how the Grenadier felt to me.

Going in the Eldoret blue was my favorite. After seeing it in person I felt it was much darker than it appears in media photos. Not for me.

My 96 disco gives a great ride on smooth and rough without a Boge. Guess the factory tuned the Disco suspension more for passengers than cargo. The longer wheelbase of the 110 is an advantage.

Stock Rover suspensions (not Defender) have always impressed me at how comfortable they are. All EAS models are in a league of their own, offroad with lift rods not so much.

Aside from the dealer in Atlanta does anyone know who or want to register a guess who is going to be a dealer?
This isn't on the site? They said it would be out with pricing...
I can't actually get to the site today, keeps giving timeout errors with all the traffic.

If I outfit mine, I get $85k, which isn't bad, but it is beyond what I could do. Not going into debt for a car. For now, I'll have to stick with the Rovers and the GWagen. An update to the G might be to move into a V8 with lower miles in the next few years. For sure, I'll be going to take a look at one when I get the chance!
