Good Series Brakes

This morning started clear and warm with a high of 85 and about 40 miles visibility. Then about 4:00 it turned into 1 mile vis and a wind storm of about 40 mph gusts. I thought it would be good to go to Home Depot in the Series truck.

Luckily, I was actually paying attention as I was just thinking it would be bad if a branch came down on me with no top on the truck. If I hadn’t, I’d have been under this when it came down.

I locked up all four wheels and came to a stop with my head down. It took another minute or so for the electricity to stop arching. So I got the extinguisher ready and backed up, then got a pic or two. I would have bred injured badly, maybe even killed if I was 10 feet further on.

Can’t really tell from here, but the shoulder isn’t drivable, and the tree is big enough that even the Series would have had a bit of work to drive through/over it. But I’m still not sure if the power was still on, or I might have tried it. As it is, it is going to take a while to get the branches and debris out of the Rover.

Now we are stuck in our dead end street with no power. Camping meals for dinner!

Power is still out. Road now blocked by multiple trees. They are predicting that the power will be out till tomorrow night. I’m watching for fires in the direction or the oncoming wind—would at least be easy to see in the dark, but the wind is gusting to almost 40.
