Do you anticipate any improvement with the EFI?

Not sure, but think the preformance and mileage will be a lot better with EFI.

Do you know what's the difference in the version? besides the price difference?

Wasn't aware there was a price difference.
I compared the pictures of the kit on the Fast web site verses Amazon and Summit.
Next, called customer support and was told the newer release was different in both firmware and some of the components.
Specifically I don't know the exact differences, but thought since I was buying, would get the latest and greatest.

Start off by using your real alias... ;)

I stand corrected with the price difference... I was looking at 2 different models. One didn't include the fuel pump... the one you posted does.

The 2 kits are the 30227-KIT and the 30227-06KIT (this is the new version).

From FAST:
30227-06KIT
"...features a new die cast and black powder coated, four-injector throttle body with integrated fuel rails. It provides even better fuel distribution and more airflow than the original."
"...also features a new-and-improved Setup Wizard."

For the same price, I'd wait too. They are available at several places. Unless they have a new "newer" version. :)

My wife must be the 3rd.

She was whining about our diesels to Uncle Doug last weekend...
I think we're going to be cutting 2 diesels loose!

.
My hearing is not the same after that trip to Expo with Jason and his 300tdi... 7 hours of TAKA TAKA TAKA (I think it was more than 8) :D

Looking forward to the final version of this conversion. :)

dude, your wife is tiny and you have her driving the biggest suv, an Excursion.
Put her in an LR4 for the win.

Drove it about 50 miles today.
Lots of fun when you have enough power to pass every car on the road if that's what you want to do.
Called comp cams and learned the EZ-EFI kits won't be shipped until July.
While I was at it, asked if the kit that you pointed out on Amazon and they confirmed that it was the same.
Am contacting the vendors to verify it's in stock.

Am currently very busy working on other stuff, so haven't had time to work on the 292 kit production.
We still need to prototype and build the ancillary mounting kits for the PS pump, alternator and AC compressor.
As soon as the machine shop has some capacity we'll get to designing these.

New badge will be cool looking and include both Chevy and Rover.
I'll post it up when I get it.

Today was in commuter traffic, right signal on to change lanes, car to right speeds up to execute the typical ass clown blocking maneuver.
Floored it in fifth gear, fast response, a second or so later plenty of room to merge into the right lane.
Blocking clown way behind.
Love it.
Impossible to execute same lane change move with a TDI.

Or the 3.5 V8. Sometimes I have to look to make sure there's not a boat anchor dragging behind

Robert,

You mentioned that you drove the truck about 50 miles the other day. Do you have any MPG estimates so far?

Have not calculated any mileage results yet as am running twin carbs, temporarily until the EFI is installed. These came with one of the 292 engines that was listed on Craigslist and since I am still in the prototype mode am not concerned with the current mileage.

But would like to see the comparison. Interested in how much more efficient the EFI will be.
