gimme the layman's perspective

I sold an old YJ when I lived in Boston many years ago and the buyer called me a few weeks after the sale and wanted me to pay for his tune-up costs when he had to get it smogged or something( I kept it licensed in Virginia=no smog)

I told him to pound sand. He shouldve checked that beforehand.

I believe in some States it's the seller's responsibility to get it to pass smog; i.e., there's no "as is" for smog. I know this is true for CA; don't know about MA. What matters is where the transfer took place, not where it was licensed.

Doesnt that Mass voter question target newer software-over-internet type of systems/data (like on newer vehicles)?
