Fumoto and Femco valves

Has anybody ever installed a Fumoto or Femco valve on their truck’s oil pan? I ordered one for my diesel Ram truck and was thinking about getting one for my 110. They sure seem like they would make oil changes easier and cleaner.

I’m not sure about the size/thread of the 300Tdi drain plug.

My only concern with the Fumoto is that some brush might open the thing while off-roading. I hear you can secure them with a hose clamp or zip tie, however. The Femco valves are lower profile and have no lever, but you need their special hose to drain them.

I think red has a whole write up on this.

If I recall I think the 200 TDI pan is 1/2bsp ? I don't know what the 300 pan is

Safety wire it like they do aircraft parts? I can imagine an extreme scenario where something breaks the wire and moves the valve open; however, I feel there’s be a lot of other problems you’d be more worried about if that happened.

Go with the Femco if you are concerned about the valve. It's a different setup that requires an adapter to open. I just changed the oil on my 110/200tdi, and it worked great. not the fastest drain but worked well enough and i even pulled it when it was done to ensure it drained fully.

Yeah, I didn't consider the angle of the drain plug. On the Land Rovers, with the plugs on the side of the pan, the Fumoto can be positioned so that the valve sits above the bottom of the pan and faces up. I think it would be quite safe up there. With the Cummins engine in my Ram, it faces downward, which is another story.
