Hi Everyone,
I have a turbo with the horns for sale from my previous vehicle. Turbo made 14.5psi boost. I replaced it with a VNT turbo otherwise was working fine.
$200 shipped lower 48 OBO.
Thanks,
Peter

On a scale of 1-10, 10 = exceeded my wildest expectations, what rating do you give the VNT swap? The one truck I've driven with it was not as exciting as I expected it to be.

Great question! I’d say a 9.
The tdi and auto combo that I had needed some help and it totally woke it up. I was very impressed with how quick it makes boost and the overall power increase was noticeable.
I had a bit of an upgraded intercooler that was custom made, same size overall but better guts. So I had a little bit of help there but never touched the fuel adjustment. I was happy with where it was.

Thanks, that’s very helpful. I’ve not touched the stock fuel settings or the stock boost settings yet on my 200tdi. The lower end is where I feel it needs improvement. I’d like to swap in an r380 and a 1.2tc to make highway travel more comfortable but feel if I did this one day the lower end performance would be even more disappointing. I don’t want a hot rod, I want a little more comfort traveling at 75mph and a little better performance in first/second gear.

Not to highjack the turbo post but @1of40 I would recommend the Chris Mason boost pin and fuel spacer from Steg's Supplies. Am currently waiting for mine to enter the US, but from what I've read and discussions I've had, that will probably satisfy your current cravings within a $150-$200 budget. Sounds like black magic, but everything I've read is this is the way for affordable power gain.

Thanks, I’ll do some looking into this.

Putting in a 1.2 is going to absolutely destroy your low end drivability around town. Especially if you do a tall r380.

I'm running 35 as well 1.4 and a tall fifth r380 and I can probably use more RPM on the highway. It's almost too tall

Haha riding the wave of the thread, I have a Chris Mason boost pin I’ll include for $250 total shipped.
Never installed. With the VNT turbo I was happy with it as is. And if I wanted to go full width intercooler I would have had to change the grill and push out the Rockware bumper etc etc and it wasn’t interested in doing that.
Just to be clear this is a stock turbo for sale Not VNT.
