Florida travel - any reccos? - the whole state is booked apparently

Looking to spend a week in Florida in the near future, but it seems like the entire state is booked... I have a family of 5 with 3 little kids, ideally if we can avoid a car and walk to the beach. I was looking at hotel/resorts on the west coast but EVERYTHING seems to be booked or its basically the Kapua suite from Sarah Marshall ($$). I'm perfectly fine with Airbnb/VRBO/private rentals but was wondering if anybody knew of availability in the near future? If so DM me?

Florida sucks, but it does have good spots. Covid "doesn't exist" down there so most stuff is open including bars and clubs, making it desirable for people who are trying to escape their state laws. Tom Slaughter just went down to Sanibel area, maybe you could ask him?

I will reach out! thanks Zack.

My requirements are pretty light, other than it being easy to get little kids to/from the beach. Nightlife isn't really needed for this trip.

LOL, no comment...

Lifelong Florida resident and native here, PM me and I'll be happy to help. Might be easier to jump on a call to discuss. Finding a place with beach access is easy; finding a place with beach access that's available when you want will be hard right now. Snowbirds always make this time of year difficult for reservations, add in COVID flight and it's even worse.

If you have a few areas in mind, let me know and I'll give you my $0.02. It's a big state.

I was near Eglin AFB in early mid December for work, one of the 'hidden' areas of FL that still reminds me of the old beach town vibes. My wife was born and raised in north central FL and she agrees is one of the few areas she would still consider having a vacation home near.

I was looking there too, but the it would likely be too cold up there still for what I'm looking for.

The hotels were extremely happy to have me while I was there and I felt well treated. Didn't seem busy at all. Traffic was low and all the restaurants were still open, did some takeout nights but I didn't eat in any while I was there. They were open for dine in, I just didn't want to risk as I have high risk family members. It was still mid 70s but I imagine the water was a little cool. I didn't make it to the beach to check.
