Exhaust Downpipe Separation / Exhaust Hanger Missing (19J Ninety)

Vehicle is a 1989 Ninety "Turbo Diesel" 19J Station Wagon LHD.

My exhaust downpipe has been separating at where it connects to the turbo assembly (see picture); I am able to reattach it and then use my floor jack to jam the parts back together, but it comes apart again after 50 miles or so, venting diesel exhaust into the engine bay.

At first, I assumed it was just because my 19J motor was shakes so much (and it does shake noticeably while running), but, if I am reading the parts diagram correctly, my truck seems to be missing the front exhaust hanger assembly (other than the bracket itself) that mounts directly in front of the catalytic converter. The rear hanger is present behind the cat, but is the only thing holding the exhaust up, which explains why the downpipe keeps falling out.

My questions are:
  1. Am I reading this correctly? I appear to have the bracket, but not the rest of the hanging assembly.

  2. Where does this front bracket (specifically, part #29 in the diagram below) attach to on the chassis? The parts diagram is singularly unhelpful.

  3. Any quick fixes while the replacement parts are on order? (i.e. any other way of securing the front exhaust)

bracket will help but its that clamp on the cast elbow that i hate. I replaced the LR bolt with a slighter larger SAE grade 8 maybe ? one that would fit with fine threads and an all metal locknut. this helped immensely as i could CRANK down on that bolt and keep it from coming loose with lots of anti-seize on it.

Cleaning the joint of carbon will also help and some even put a non-hardening exhaust paste on that connection

I wouldn't stress about the center section hangar from LR , don't spend the coin on all those parts unless your truck is original. just use a universal hangar

"bracket will help, but its that clamp on the cast elbow that i hate"
-- Interesting idea, many thanks. Just to confirm, this is the clamp on the top picture of the first post (which is indeed a pain to use)?

"just use a universal hangar"
That sounds perfectly reasonable, any thoughts on where to attach it to? It seems to be right behind the transfer case and seat box.

yes the arrow is pointed directly to the clamp you need to make sure that the "open" part of the clamp is over the "slot" in the downpipe when it is fitted to the cast elbow. this way when you tighten it you are pulling the side of the slot toward one another.

and you can hang it anywhere. in the bottom of the tcase there are a few threaded bosses or you can use the ones on the side that hold the rubber mount on. so you dont have the drill a hole in the frame

How the engine to pipe bracket #3 in your picture?
Good catch! That bracket (#3 in the parts diagram) appears to be missing too, and would definitely help hold up the downpipe.

I would not be surprised if these two exhaust brackets were removed to bleed or flush the clutch (which you have to remove to get at the clutch drain nipple on the LT77 transmission--world's worst design)--and then someone was lazy and never put them back on. They were certainly already gone when I flushed+bled the clutch two or three years ago.
