Ethanol Treatments

Anyone know of any out there that don’t off-set the cost so much that I should just pay the $5 per gallon for ethanol free gas? I’m looking mainly for the power tools, but would want to treat the V8 Rovers once in a while as well.

I pay $20 a gallon at Home Depot for “pure” 91 octane fuel for my Honda generator. I haven’t had to clean out the carb on it since switching over to it.

Ethanol free with stabilizer is the way to go. It stores far longer without degrading in the tank or engine.

For small engines use Avgas, and drain dry for storage (including carb bowl). No more problems...

I suppose getting a few gallons of the clear stuff is worth the price. I’m also going to use the stuff Stihl sells on occasion.

For my Stihl machines I mix their 2 stroke oil with 93 octane that has ethanol unfortunately in it to run for the operating months. For Winter storage I run until empty and then put the Stihl fuel in. All start up in Spring or if necessary during the Winter.

I buy non-ethanol from time to time, I buy E-10 most of the time. I use either Stihl or Amsoil mix and generally a gallon at the time. I have NEVER EVER had a fuel issue with my saws, mower, generator or blowers. My saws with sit for months at a time with fuel in them, same for the generator. I generally dump the fuel in my saws and run them dry, the generator always has fuel in it.... I have never used a fuel treatment. I believe if you buy quality fuel BP, Shell, Exxon etc you wont have problems. My Land Rovers sit for months at a time, I use BP 90% of the time and I have never had an issue...

I get the issue with clogged exhaust. And lots of people talk about the seals and ethanol. Which should be OK in modern stuff. But there’s a reason they have FlexFuel ratings on some cars....

Check around lakes, there are usually many gas stations carrying ethanol free gasoline for boats. Also if you have a Quick Trip gas station (QT) they often carry ethanol free fuel. My local one has Ethanol free 88 octane. Its about 30 cents/gal more expensive than regular. Not great but not bad considering how little I actually need.
