Not sure if this is helpful but there are a couple other Defender 200TDI LHD power steering lines

NTC5000 (I think this is 200TDI)
NTC6730 (I think this is the one I need for my 91, HA vin)

Thanks Adam - let me check on those numbers.

Attached is a pic of NTC5000 (thanks RovahFarm) - I was just talking to Zack and there is a PS pump with a banjo fitting which this looks like it takes. So NTC5000 won't work for me but is good to have documented.

NTC6730 - looks almost like an AN fitting on one end. I wonder if it's like the 2 piece design I found on the 1994 RRC that I grabbed some pieces off of?

This style is if the back of your pump has a banjo with a- 6 or an6 male fitting.

This is usually found on 200tdi Defender style engines with the early pump

Here is a pic of the pump. Part number: NTC8288

I really cannot believe how many stupid hoses there are. I feel like taking the pump apart and just welding an AN bung on there and getting something made. I may just bring some items to the hydraulic hose shop and see if they have ends that would work and get a hose made. Last time I had to get a hose made for the OM617 the guys were like we won?t have anything to fit Mercedes. But I brought in the old stuff from the car and they had stuff that worked.

The other side of the hose linked above us an.

That looks like 1/2 by 20 inverted flare.

can you post pics of the back of your power steering pump and the top of your power steering box.

This is the NTC8288 box I have:

https://www.johnrichardssurplus.co.uk/power-steering-pump-200-tdi-ntc8288.html

I did some testing with some bolts and extra pieces. I believe you are correct that it is a 1/2-20 inverted flare. My OM617 PS setup must have the same thread but when I tried it on the LR PS Box it leaked fluid. Looking at them some more the bolt on my OM617 hose was not long enough and didn't bring the flare into the box enough to make a seal. I first thought that the pitch was different. I might take a hose to the local hydraulic shop and see if they can use the LR hose for the steering box and add a correct 1/2-20 flare end on the other.

Ok so that's a 200tdi disco specific pump . I'll see if I can look up the hoses when I get home .

Rhd or lhd ? Four bolt or Six bolt ps box on frame ?

1/2-20 is one of the most common power steering connections you can buy the flare fittings on Jegs and Summit really easily if you end up going the custom route

4 bolt PAS box out of a Discovery 1 and LHD.

Don?t bother looking up the hoses but thanks - I?m going to bring some items to the hydraulic shop tomorrow and see what they can do. If not I?ll get some items from Jegs/Summit and go custom.

I ended up in the same boat as you when I had to buy new power steering lines for my truck. It's so confusing because of how many changes that they made based on Vin over the years.

I'm doing an electric power steering conversion and I had quotes of $150 for each line that I needed to make locally here by the hydraulic shop. But the Bay Area is an absolute bubble.

I'll most likely be making the lines myself with ends from fragola performance

I had to end up telling the shop the lines were for a tractor bc they wouldn’t do a vehicle they couldn’t locate a part# on.

I had mine made by a hydraulic hose shop, it took them about 30 minutes and I was out the door. I don't remember it costing very much at all.

It's been a little while but I've been picking away at this.

Here is what I came up for for the cooling hoses:

-NTC7223 (which is a lower hose for RRC and D1 200tdi setups)
-NTC4895 top hose for 200tdi Defender

For the bottom hose I had to add a piece of tubing and hose to match up with the fill reservoir.

I cut the main part and flipped the side closest to the engine around and then ran this: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Inline-Fill-Adapter-with-3-8-Inch-NPT-Fitting,9244.html to take up the extra space (the 200tdi sits further away from the radiator and the radiator is higher in a Defender).

I'm hoping the Speedway Motors sleeve with the 3/8" plug will make draining coolant easier in the future.

Steve Parker has this lower hose that I believe will be a direct fit. IIRC, depending on what type of reservoir you use, may require a small extension near the tank.

It's kind of a hassle to order from them, but you get a nice hose with no joints. You could use what you've built as a back up.

That?s nice! I didn?t know about that and at the time was kind of rushing to get things done but would have ordered that just for the ease of not needed any modifications. Thanks for the tip!

I went the same direction as you Don but used a copper pipe. I like the drain feature and wish I’d thought of that.

I'm thinking the drain feature will work well. I had to drain the coolant already once and it made a huge mess.
