Disco V windshield leak... Replacement?

Hey all - Has anyone else with a Disco V experienced a leaking windshield? My 2017 has 24k miles on it and the windshield started leaking on my passenger.

I dropped it off with Rosenthal Land Rover in Tyson's Corner, VA the evening of Dec 1, and my service guy Kevin told me on Dec 2 that the windshield (Land Rover PN #LR106637) needs to be replaced/resealed and is on back order, with no ETA. I also noted it needed an alignment and the rear cubby didn't close consistently. I was heading out of town for the week, so they said they would work on the alignment and rear cubby while I was out of town. Logically I get it - removing glass from a vehicle usually results in breakage - so you want to have a windshield on hand if you are removing it.

I returned to Land rover the following Friday, expecting to pick my car up and was told it was still in service. They gave me a loaner and sent me on my way.

Fast forward to 12/13 & I get a VM/Text message that my car is done and ready to pick up... Including the windshield. I asked specifically about the windshield and was told "Yes sir. All done :)". I went and picked up the car, paid for the alignment and came home.

Invoice reads:

CUSTOMER STATES CHECK FOR WATER INGRESS INTO CABIN - WATER LEAKING INTO PASS SIDE - CHECK CARPET, INTERIOR CHECK. FOUND RIGHT FRONT CORNER W/S SEAL NOT BONDING TO W.S. REMOVED WINDSHIELD AND REPLACED SEAL AND REINSTALLED

PART ON SPECIAL ORDER
** QUANTITY 1 IS SPECIAL ORDERED **

Today I happened to remove my smart tag & I was able to see adhesive under the smart tag where I had previously had another sticker attached to the windshield... Adhesive that wouldn't be on a new windshield. There were a few other indicators (nicks, etc) that it was the same windshield as before, but as I'd only had the car less than 60 days - I wrote those off as circumstantial and/or coincidental. The adhesive though... That affirms that I currently have the same windshield as when I originally dropped the car off on Dec 1.

Is it SOP to replace the windshield for this procedure, or only if the glass breaks?
Has a windshield been ordered as a warranty replacement under my VIN for my vehicle?
Has anyone else experienced this issue with a Disco 5?

Was it not under warranty? This is an extremely common issue

The issue is parts availability. Land Rover is telling us we should replace the windscreen, but it can be resealed if it is a parts availability issue.

Yes - it was covered under warranty, but I'm not clear on what the factory 'fix' is (ie replace windshield and seal) vs what was done for my vehicle - which appears to just be a reseal of existing windshield.

If the windshield ca be removed and replaced without breaking it, then that’s a perfectly god way to fix the leak.

Not exactly. The windshield is the problem, not the seal. If you just reseal it the problem will reoccur.

I'm hearing conflicting reports on this - does anyone have a copy of the TSB or other internal documentation of this issue? I've read its the seal... and that it's the windshield.

It's just not clear, and I just want it resolved per the factory SOP.

If your vehicle was in the VIN range for the recall for this issue (guessing yours isn't) windshield replacement is the only repair. There is no bulletin or documentation for how to fix the issue if the vehicle is outside of the VIN range for the recall, so that's why you are hearing conflicting reports. This is from the recall.
